Frank, Dok really has your number. What he failed to note about you, however, is that you really don't give a damn. That's why I've more or less given up on you. I read you for fun--that's all.
If someone said that to me I would be devastated.

Eorl,

First, I am not laughing at anybody. I prefer to think that I am laughing with them. If laughing is a sin, then I am doomed.

Doc bearly has his own number...much less mine.

He, like you, seems to think he knows what the REALITY of existence is.

MY GUESS: Neither of you do. But if it makes you feel safe to pretend you do...go for it.

It was funny.

I wanted to acknowledge that it was funny....but I wanted to keep my eye on the ball.

Y'all know I am an atheist by my term, after some years of other ways. I don't care about anyone else's defining of what I think. I don't mind anybody else believing anything, long as they don't put it on me with some rule of law. I often can understand what believers here say they are thinking.

I respect honest efforts to understand anything.

I am quite tired of looking into this forum and seeing this level of downputting. The fact that the downputting is by some favorite posters of mine is of no matter. It is still tiresome.

From one believer to a non believer....I feel the same way. That was the whole reason why I asked what the point was anyways.

To argue for the sake of arguing? To pat oneself on the back? To change a persons beliefs or lack thereof?

What?

Frank is right about one thing.

In John 1:18, the apostle wrote: "No one has seen God at any time." In Exodus 33:20 God said to Moses: "You cannot see My face; for no man can see Me and live."

Well, I'll admit that since I only check in on spirituality and religion forum sporadically, I can misread. I think I've misread Frank & Edgarblythe, for example, in that there is a fine camaraderie to their postings, not always discernable to others.. And I'm sometimes a tad crabby and express my thoughts about what is aggravating me fairly readily, something I'm usually sorry for mere minutes later.

But yeah, even though I understand the namecalling more than I sounded like I did, it does make a reader weary.

As to the purpose, many like debate, and many like learning how to debate, or even just discuss. Some like to win....

I do have a little better understanding of the atheist and agnostic position than I once had.

Frank is not easily swayed toward one direction or another and though I don't agree with his position......I do respect it.

Although I don't think he will have to wait a million years to find out as none of us will.

But of course, there is:

Exodus 33:11

And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend.

Deuteronomy 34:10:

And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face.

Exodus 33:20ff

Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live. And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock: And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put theein a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by: And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.

Genesis 25:24
And the LORD appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not.

Genesis 32:30
And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.

My position is:

I do not know if there is a God or gods...I do not know that there are no gods...I do not have enough unambiguous evidence upon which to base a meaningful guess...I therefor decline to make guesses about the issue.

Just what part of that do you "not agree" with???

This is just too silly to stand.

The omnipotent being that created the Universe apparently has a face. Ok, I can take that as being a metaphore, but then it's got "back parts" too. Somehow a hairy old butt wrecks the metaphore.

I should have said I do not adhere or hold your agnostic postion.

The sentence structure I used was poor and a few of those words were uneccessary.

Kinda like have 3 question marks I suppose.

I didn't grow up in a very affluent setting. I grew up in the hood as some would say. My family could not afford to send me to a rich boy's school to develop my reading and writing skills to the level you would deem worthy of your reading Mr. Apisa.

What do you care what I do or don't agree with anyways?

P.S. Nothing that is typed on this forum is actually PRINTED OUT!!! Laughing

Unless of course you are in fact printing these forums out.....???????? Drunk

Nothing to see or respond to here......just more mush.

Frank, I've got a question for you.

You said:

Quote:
But of course, there is:

Exodus 33:11

And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend.

However if you read that whole paragraph, not just one sentence it says:

7 Moses took his tent and pitched it outside the camp, far from the camp, and called it the tabernacle of meeting. And it came to pass that everyone who sought the LORD went out to the tabernacle of meeting which was outside the camp. 8 So it was, whenever Moses went out to the tabernacle, that all the people rose, and each man stood at his tent door and watched Moses until he had gone into the tabernacle. 9 And it came to pass, when Moses entered the tabernacle, that the pillar of cloud descended and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the LORD talked with Moses. 10 All the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the tabernacle door, and all the people rose and worshiped, each man in his tent door. 11 So the LORD spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend.

So my question is: if there was a pillar of cloud that descended each time God would meet Moses in the temple, how could Moses have literally seen God's face?
