A snippet from a 1999 UN report:

"States should work towards the introduction of appropriate national legislation, administrative regulations and licensing requirements that define conditions under which firearms can be acquired, used and traded by private persons. In particular, they should consider the prohibition of unrestricted trade and private ownership of small arms and light weapons specifically designed for military purposes, such as automatic guns (e.g., assault rifles and machine guns)." http://disarmament.un.org/cab/smallarms/presskit/sheet21.htm

The US already has restrictions on the sales and ownership of automatic weapons.

Yeah, sure the UN wants our guns away from us - kindof ironic considering why and under what circumstances we created them.

They're not worried for their own sake, it just stings their asses that we can conduct ourselves like men and women of some kind of principle when they need to be kept in order for their own good. I mean, hell, look at the culture - it's what we make action movies about - it's not like there isn't a place in the public subconscious. If the guns go away will the movies forever be set in the 1990's?

Come on! You know yourself when you were 10 you wanted to be the kid in the neighborhood with a line on some fireworks in the summer not one of the many with the low-octane-state-legal sparklers or the few who's parents told 'em what to be afraid of. Self determination is a wonderful thing - these pansies that say it's dangerous or our society has moved on - what's their idea? Take away anything dangerous? In GB they did a study about taking away big kitchen knives. Bullshit, if they could conceive of what to do it wouldn't make us harmless - but they can't do that much, all they can do is gnaw away at the fabric of liberty.

The economies of the world shud be
benevolently assimilated into unlimited application
of the natural laws of economics: perfectly free laissez-faire free enterprize
with no government interference,
excepts for the judiciary enforcing contracts
which were made in an environment of political freedom.

Yeah,
so far as I can c,
it looks civilized to me.

Free, with no government interference.
I 'm a big supporter of Adam Smith and Ludwig von Mises.
In other words, I reject the concept that the middle class n the rich
must, nor shud, accept the poor as parasites upon them.

For inspirational purposes,
thay shud put the motto:
" every man for himself, and let the devil take the hindmost " on every $ bill.

P.S.:
I bet that zebra 's last wish
was that he had better defenses.

Is thay Y u r in bed there,
with the long snoot ?

Thay r not.

Note that I have long approved of greed,
and cheerfully recommend it to everyone;
( note also that greed is not to be confused with stingyness,
which is conceptually distinct and different, tho not incompatible with greed ).

It is not fun to practice stingyness.

What the hell difference does it make
whether the parents of the greedy were married or not ??

I saw someone 's big Harley with a super-cool miniature belt-fed
.22 caliber machine gun on it; a tail gun.
Maybe that zebra shud 've had one of those.

Employers do not stalk and chase potential employees.
People shud freely contract with one another
in an environment that neither coerces the other,
but both endeavor to get the best possible deal.

I support a laissez-faire free market.

Dave, may we now pry Heston's gun from his cold, dead, fingers?

BTW, I think he is oblivious to any mocking he may receive.
