Oh yuk, how can you eat that poor little fish when it's looking at you accusingly like that?
I had curry and chips with lots of bread last night, and that was after my dinner! I think I'm going through a hungry phase.

Thank you, Gus.
I learn something new every day here!
"Not Quite Pho" is the name of the soupy meal I cooked tonight. Very nice it was, too!
Pretty easy to make: First some chicken stock with ginger, star anise, cardamon pods & chillies. After 10 minutes add 2 skinless chicken breasts & cook for a further 10 minutes. Turn off the heat & let it sit for half an hour. Shred the chicken. Reheat the stock & add some Chinese white cabbage & a bit of fish sauce. Then pour some of the stock into a big bowl containing some softened rice noodles, Vietnamese mint, coriander sprigs, mung bean shoots, sliced spring onions & sliced iceberg lettuce.
Yum!
It is rather chilly here today- soup day.
Minestrone.
Both of those soups sound good..
You don't eat fish, Cumulus?
I am not hungry ( too much work) and so I have no idea what to do for dinner tonight.
Family will be hungry though.
Maybe a huge salad ( different greens, corn, beans, tomatoes), bread, butter, cheese?
Or spaghetti?
I will let them decide.
Crumbed dory fillet (oven-baked on foil), steamed, crunchy French beans & steamed potatoes with a little butter & a lot of chives! And a pear for dessert.
Yesterday I had a curry lamb wrap for lunch and wasn't hungry for dinner. I've been making tortilla soup, though, and having that. Delicious.
last night: baked salmon, broccoli with cheese sauce, yellow rice and cucumber slices.
Tonight, I'm thinking ravioli and a green salad.
Had a late lunch/early dinner with a dear friend today. We walked from her place to the (nearby) Essendon Football Club social rooms & I dined on lamb's fry, steamed carrots & baked potatoes. Don't quite know what prompted me to order that (needed a fix of iron, perhaps?), but it wasn't too bad at all.
In
Essendon? Middle class, dearie!
My friend, D, is a one-eyed bombers fan. Can you believe that that's why they live within a stone's throw of Windy Hill?

In Melbourne? oh yess I believe i believe.
Me, I think it's crazy.
The price of real estate in Essendon!
Momma mia!
Lamb is an idea for Sunday.
Leg of lamb, filled with prochutto and herbs, rosmarin potatoes, grilled tomatoes.
Today calf liver with apples and onions, mashed potatoes and vanilla flan with rhasberries.
Sweet and sour chicken from the Chinese chippy.

last night it was 2 packets of instant oatmeal - 1 plain, 1 maple/brown sugar
rye toast with butter
chai
oddly satisfying
Roasted pumpkin & almond little ravioli squares. (Locally made & very nice!) with a melted butter & snipped garlic chives (from the garden) "sauce". Toasted pinenuts scattered on top. Not bad!
Sounds good to me.
I threw together yet another strange and wonderful soup - this time, roasted veggies (onions, carrots, bit of fennel root, sweet red peppers, yellow squash, garlic) and some white beans, frozen peas, sliced ham...
with leftover pasta shells in half and half sauce, all simmered in some veggie broth and some chicken broth.. ah, and some chili flakes and ital spices. Turned out fine.
Now I'm addicted to roasted veggies.
