Here the season will be over soon- best time is August and September. This year was a marvellous year. I have dried a lot for winter.
Very Happy

In German Penny Buns are called Steinpilze. In Austria we call them Herrenpilze.

parent/teacher night- is this kind of a social gathering?

Have a good holiday. Will it be a long one? Very Happy

Risotto Porcini tonight. My daughter found 3 kg today. Very Happy

Hi ul! Very Happy

Real, live, fresh Porcinis! <gasp!>
I wonder what they taste like? <looking & feeling wistful & insanely jealous at the same time. )
I have only had access to the dried, imported varieties here. Used for flavouring in mushroom dishes like rosotto. Very expensive!
Three kg! WOW! I can't imagine that! <swoon> Surprised

So tell me about the risotto! Leave no detail out! Laughing

Parent/teacher night is something schools all over the world do, ul, though they all probably have different names for it. We (the teachers) write reports about each student's progress & the parents come & collect them & talk to us. Often with their child in tow. We do it four times a year. At the end of term, when teachers are getting very tired & wobbly. Anyway, it went well. Always a useful exercise, for both sides.

Dinner was good. Freshly made lasagne & other pastas with wonderful fresh salads! Desserts wonderful:home-made (by the caterers) rich chocolate cake (vanished fast!) yummy little sponge cake thingies with fresh cream & passionfruit icing on top ... & a few other tasty things to select from. Not bad!

Two week's holiday coming up, starting today! (I'm part-time.) Will have to start looking for work for next year, though ... <sigh>

I have choices of left over this and that.
Might just slice some early season apples and have some of that cheese I got from the international market a few weeks ago, that "mountain" cheese rather like parmigiano.

Back from class and I am dead ravenous.

I've had a chicken sandwich made out of last night's roast chicken, and a little stack of yum yum pickles. I may need another sandwich, or half of one.

msolga-
thanks for the explanation. We call this event Elternsprechtag (parent talk day). I asked because we don't have a dinner with it. No food, no nothing, just business.
How to describe the flavor of fresh Porcini? You have to hop over- so you can try.

I hope you go out and have a real festive kick-off holiday dinner.

My menue for you
Corn soup
Salmon steak on leek with Sauce Hollandaise
Fresh Mango with whipped cream

I loved it- and Rainer too.
Rudy's is highly recommended! Especially in the company of Lady Diane and dyslexia.

Had lunch in a restaurant today ("Old Swede"), since it's mother's birthday and I really didn't feel to cook for five ladies all older than 83 (mother's 86 today).
I had lop de mer with a creamy crevette-herbs sauce, salad and potatoe pockets.

Tonight: The Moroccan Soup Kitchen. Starting with lots of dips, olives & bits of vegetables & flat bread to mop the dips up with. Followed by 3 plates with dishes I don't know the names of: a chick pea in yoghurt sauce one, various rice & lentil creations & a delicious smokey eggplant dish plus a vegetable platter. Followed by yummy little pastries & a tiny cup of very strong black coffee. That was a lot of food & my friend, A, was "not hungry". So of course I had to do the right thing! <Burp!>
