A power outage when I got home tonight. So thought I'd better cook something very simple, fast, while it was still light. So, believe it or not, fried egg & bacon in the dimming light! (The power supply has now been restored, obviously!)

The zucchini fairy struck while I was out yesterday. What am I going to do with these humongous things?

Lobster!
The Lovely Bride is a master of the perfectly cooked lobster.
And she got some clam clowder from Legal Sea Food to go with it.

Outstanding!

Grilled white fish with chanterelles, Swiss sauce (made with ham, tomatoes, real Swiss cheese, herbs) on buttered Swiss noodles, striped slightly steamed vegatables.

Leaving early tomorrow morning to go north to our fixer upper for almost 3 weeks. Plan to eat fresh fish at least 3 times -- meet fish truck in town on Fridays to get either fresh caught white fish or lake trout -- pan fried with fried potatoes -- yum! Also want to try locally farmed red deer meat (as sausages probably). Friday is market day so will also look for local honey, preserves and baking. Weight loss isn't looking likely unless some of our de-construction projects are really grueling....oh well, it's a grand old life if you don't weaken.... Smile

Laughing

Just trying to inject a little interest into my otherwise bland and conventional day, Walter.

Okay, although I don't like sushi .... how do you prepare the nude body ... and from where do you it/her/him?

Ahem, just in case ...

I'm actually going for sushi at lunch but I doubt my plate will look anything like that... maybe it's a good thing... I'm going with a couple of male colleagues and we are supposed to attend a meeting after. I want to make sure they get there.

Hey Walter, last time I was in Germany, I was in Frankfurt... if you know the area maybe you can help me. It was across the Main, into the old town, I believe. We went to a cider house (I think it was apple cider) and had a meal. I got these huge sausages which, when poke, spurted out all over the place. What are those called?

The cider is called Äppelwoi - and the sausages must have either normal Bratwurst (if grilled) or Weisswurst (when cooked, but those are more Bavarian than Hessian).

Oh, and most certainly it was in Sachsenhausen - that's the traditional Äppelwoi-suburb of Frankfurt.

Sorry for the double post - got 'critical errors' in-between.

You're right - it did have a name. The Applewoi took a bit of getting used to and I never did manage to get a forkful of those horrid sausages near my face. They called them something else, Walter - I've had Bratwurst and these were not them. Two were black and two were red. Eww. I'm shuddering just thinking of them. They literally squirted out a liquid.

Cheap flight to Vancouver - wow!

A spicy lentil & veg soup from my freezer (working on reports tonight) with ciabatta rolls (well, one, anyway) bought fresh this afternoon.
