@glitterbag,
When I was a child, we went out to eat once a week, to a nice place.
None of this "kids menu" stuff with hot dogs and peanut butter sandwiches. You ordered off the regular menu.
I remember asking what vichyssoise was, and my mother said "cold potato soup"
Well, that didn't sound so bad. I was imagining what we had at home, which was beef broth (hot), with chunks of potato.
When it arrived, I was surprised it was creamed. I took one spoonful and realized "Ack"
No scene was made, it was ok I didn't want it. I mean, how would I know unless I tried it?
I think that experience made me feel free for trying many different foods. I didn't have to like it, just try it.
