@CalamityJane,
Yeah, and I'm jealous.
(I know, it's proper to say envious, but jealous it is.)
I'll have to look at the menu and see what I would order.

@ossobuco,
Ok, I haven't had chinese spare ribs in a million years, so that's first (steamed), plus an order of fried eggplant stuffed with shrimp. Haven't had eggplant in a chinese restaurant. I love dumplings, every one of them, but will forego to try these other things. I'm used to italian eggplant recipes, but Diane ordered a stuffed eggplant at an Abq japanese restaurant and it was wonderful. So I'll play.

Dessert already?
I'll take the black sesame ball. Again, nostalgia.

Pan Fried Turnip Cake.

Skipping the fun (foon). We'll see. Maybe to-go.

Stir fried long beans with bbsauce. Easy at home, but the place that carries long beans is way across town.
(I will never touch another jelly fish, had that at my wedding dinner)
Crab season over, no?
That fried short rib with honey pepper sauce sounds good.
Never had such mushrooms, with honey sauce, so I'd try them.
Maybe a honey surfeit.
Some fried calamari - depends on the restaurant.

Ok, ok, to go, I'll take some mixed veggie foon.

Admittedly this all doesn't make sense together, but it's been a while since I've been to a good chinese restauraut and piggyness reigns.

Will be interested to see what you all order and like.

Spinach, white been soup with a slice of toast and cheese. Potatoes baked with onions and tomatoes and drenched in olive oil. Apple and blueberry crisp.

Last night we had dinner at The Queens Head here in St. Pete. Best fish and chips I've ever had!

@jcboy,
I’m making a meatloaf tonight. I bought this lawrys meatloaf mix. Going to have mashed potatoes and peas with it. Sounds easy enough.

Dinner last night became today's lunch soup.

I threw a diced red pepper, some leeks, and chopped white onion into the bottom of a baking dish. I topped it with 2 large pieces of cod; sprinkled garlic powder, dill, lemon juice, s&p and a couple T of capers over the top. I added just enough veg broth to keep the veggies from sticking down. Baked it at 425 for 30 mins. The fish was done and the veggies were tender-crisp.

Today I took the other piece of fish and broke it up into smaller pieces. I added 2 cups of vegetable broth and heated it through to make a fish stew.

I'll definitely do this again.

@JPB,
JPB, that sounds great - I think I'll make a chicken variant of that tomorrow (just brought some chicken up from the freezer and was wondering what to do with it)

back from the great white north, picked up some crayon carrots fromTed the organic gardener before leaving the island (a mixed bag of white, purple, yellow and orange with purple core carrots)

roasted the carrots, sauteed some yellow zucchini with some onion and garlic and some plum tomatoes from the garden, chicken thighs on the grill

My meatloaf didn't come out well so I picked up dinner at KFC.

@Rockhead,
Well not exactly, I can’t say because it’s too embarrassing.

My meatloaf, never dry, is not the same twice or a hundred times since. Meatloaf is the ultimate play around dish.

Start by looking meatloaf up on a2k. Then play. That'll get you to research the archives.

@jcboy,
I’ll tell him, it’s not embarrassing, and you’re learning how to cook.

I’ll just say he learned tonight the digital clock on the stove wasn’t the temperature of the oven.

@Rockhead,
I actually fell out of my chair. It was 6:15 PM according to the stove and he thought that was the temperature of the oven so he turned it down, the meatloaf never cooked.

Never mind, jcboy, it's the effort you made that counts. Smile

Think of it as learning from trial & error.
That's what I always do!
It makes me feel better, too. Wink
You can be certain that your next meatloaf will be a 100% improvement on this one.
