Curd Rice. Very light for stomach and filling too. Plus tasty as well.

In heated oil, add curry leaves, mustard seeds, cumin seeds and black pepper powder. Add plain curd/yogurt. Add pinch of salt and sugar to your liking. Stir till it turns into a thick white soup. Add cooked rice. Cook for about few minutes. Let it stand for few minutes. Eat when cooled down.

Lamb tagine with apricots, and couscous, green beans, sugar snap peas.

Pannetone with berry fruits poached with amaretto, accompanied by mascarpone and creme frais.

Nice soup and bread to start, four bottles of wine between six of us, and malt whisky later.

another Saturday afternoon fridge cleaner meal

I spotted some fancy triangular pumpkin ravioli getting ready to commit suicide in the fridge so I started with them in mind

sauteed 8 or so chicken legs in a little olive oil
threw in the end of a box of beef broth
spooned in the balance of a small jar of mild salsa
cut in about a half pound of purple fingerling potatoes
cut in coins of organic carrots (finishing off what was in the wicker basket in the kitchen)
found a jar of pasta sauce left over from a pizza making evening - slopped it into the pot
put a lid on and let everything simmer for about an hour
layered in the ravioli - put the lid back on for about 20 minutes

wowowowow when I took the lid off

the chicken is falling off the bone, the purple potatoes and carrots are bright, the sauce is yum and the ravioli is tasty

always a great adventure to do something like this

I can't believe how pretty this concoction looks

@McTag,
Well, that sounds fantastic.

I'm making spaghettini with walnut/garlic/parsley pesto. Comfort food.
(Time to buy more parsley - I go through it fast)

I made soup with red lentils, carrots, parsnips and swede (because those were the vegetables I had) and vegetable stock.
Delicious- everyone loved it - an accidental but fortuitous new family favorite.

A house mate made beet gnocchi. She gave them to me. First I tried them with marinara sauce (thumbs down). Also, I boiled them and they sort of fell apart.

Tonight I made a version on a whim. I sauteed onions in (too much) olive oil, I tossed in half a handful of chopped parsley. I laid the gnocchi on top of the onion and parsley as they sauteed. I added garlic. After not too long I dumped in some chicken broth and another handful of parsley. Also a squirt of lemon juice and a good amount of grated hard cheese. It sat for a little simmering and was ready to eat. The parsley and lemon were perfect! It was sort of like a hot, soupy salad. But, in a good way.

Nice tomato curry and rice.

Serving for two.

1. Chop 2 medium to big size tomatoes in small pieces. Chop 1 onion. Smash 2 big garlic buds. Blend this all in a blender. If you dont have blender then chop them really thin and small.

2. In a pan heat oil, add 1 small t-spoon cumin seeds, 1 small t-spoon mustard seeds, 1 small green chilli, 4-5 curry leaves.

3. Fry this for a few seconds, add the blended tomato onion paste. Cook for a few minutes. Make sure you stirr this well while cooking esp. if you could not blend the tomatoes.

4. Add ripe tamarind soaked in water, to your taste . Alternately u can use 1 t-spoon of vinegar too. Add turmeric and coriander powder. Cook for a few minutes. If too thick then add 1 cup of water.

5. Add coriander / parsley when boiling for last few minutes.

6. Serve with boiled rice or rice chapatis.

@vinsan,
I'm contemplating pumpkin risotto for tonight.
I have all the ingredients handy.
All I need is the motivation.

@msolga,
Absolutely msolga. Son is presently Tuna fishing in the Great Australian Bight and called in Port for provisions earlier this week. He phoned home and said there was some fish on the way. Would you believe Whiting is $60.00 per kg on the Adelaide market presently! Who can afford that?

@djjd62,
Pizza - provolone, artichoke heart, asparagus bits, spicy turkey sausage, some diced sicilian olives, minced garlic. Not bad if I do say so myself.
Pineapple coconut nectar diluted/lots of ice.
