I just cooked (& ate!) Lemon Salmon pasta. (Yes, from a recipe, ehBeth! Wink )

Yum! Hot, freshly cooked pasta, tossed with cream, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, capers & flaked smoked salmon fillet. It was also supposed to have chopped dill , too ... but hey, summer is over! So, at the very last minute, I rushed outside to my garden & picked some garlic chives , cut them up with scissors & tossed them through with the rest. Very, very good! Aaah! Very Happy

Beef stroganoff. Possibly a salad, and/or a bread product.

Tonight: lamb cutlets with Indian spiced rice. All cooked in the one pan. Quick & easy to make & tasty, too!

Deciding between steamed mussels in garlic and white wine broth or snapper with citrus salsa (a la Mark Bittman in today's NYTimes...sounds so good.)

@Kara,
Yes, definitely go with the mussels.

Fried pork chops (bone in), green beans, and am going to try one more time, home made scalloped potatos.

@Kara,
big pot of soup - asparagus , carrots , celeriac , noodles in home-made chicken/beef broth - piece of leftover ribeye steak and some rice - sticks to the ribs

@hamburger,
hbg, I love soup and keep adding new items to a soup original after it diminishes with use. I made a soup two days ago with lentils, peas, pasta, onions and other sauteed aromatics, then added a can of beans smooshed in the blender...it was wonderful. There was some left, so I added a 2-cup container of Whole Foods' split pea soup to stretch it....add a swirl of sour cream and a sprinkle of parmy. Yum. Tomorrow, I'll add some leftover rice from a recipe of the Breakaway Cook...2/3 water or stock, 1/3 carrot juice, white or brown rice...herbs, s & p. My fridge is chockablock with leftovers, bits of this and that.

@msolga,
hehehe

msolga, we made your soup today. Sort of. The computer wasn't on, so we winged it.

I'd asked Set to prepare a base potato/carrot/onion soup with chicken broth while I was at work. When I woke up after my nap after work (don't ask - allergies), I chopped in four big stalks of broccoli. While I was on the phone with the hamburgers, Set added milk and a bit of butter. After I got off the phone, I whizzed the soup and added a double handful of mini smoked sausages and some spicy cheddar. Put the lid back on to let the sausage heat up and the cheese melt into the soup.

I had two bowls. It was sooooo good. If there's enough left tomorrow for a bowl each, I'll fry up some crispy onions as a topping.

Thanks for the inspiration, msolga!

@ehBeth,
sounds yummy Beth....

I made up something tonight...cooking by the seat of my pants...

I saute'd chicken then I added onions, green peppers and saute'd just a little - deglazed with white wine and cut up a large ugly tomato and then added canned Rotel tomatoes. salt and pepper - oregano and basil...put it over whole wheat pasta. Salad, cucs, tomats, parmesan cheese (grated fatly - you know what I mean) and creamy cesar dressing - it was okay - I just wasn't very hungry.

Maybe tomorrow night I will be.

@ehBeth,
But, ehBeth, you've created an entirely different soup to my recipe, you stubborn innovator, you! Wink Laughing

But I've got to say, I think I like your version better than mine. I think I might give it a go! Very Happy

@msolga,
nonono - tater/broccoli soup is now msOlga soup here!

I just fried up some onions and summer sausage as a topping for the last of the soup. We'll be making something like this again.

@ehBeth,
last of the soup here too - i'm glad we put plenty of CELERIAC in - i like the distinctive taste .
buttered rice , panfried chicken breast and coleslaw on the side - not bad for "left-overs" .

slice of danish "kringele" and cup of tea around 6 pm .

celeriac is a kind of "homely" looking veg but very flavourful

@sozobe,
i bet the food was good .
we've been to a jewish weddding and bar mitzvah - oh , the food was just the best !!!
some years ago we staid "grossinger's resort" in the catskills for a conference .
pickled herring and smoked carp for breakfast - we thought we'd gone to heaven (but most of the other attendees wanted REAL bacon and eggs - NO DICE <GRIN> ) .
