@alex240101,
I prefer to make my own barbecue, ribs, brisket, pork shoulder, etc., but since there's snow on the ground and I have to work today, we'll go to Famous Dave's. There are several in the area. They do a good job.

@cjhsa,

One thing they sell that I like are the rib tips. They are a bit bony and fatty but you get a huge portion for like $7. They always ask if you've had them before because they are concerned you might not like all the effort it takes to eat them. Definitely the best deal on the menu.

@cjhsa,
Well you see ceej-- it is wild boar you want. It has been shown that factory farmed animals, which are forced fed to all intents and purposes on a diet of you know not what, are dosing those who eat it with quantities of saturated fat, various hormones, usually female ones, and antibiotics. The animal in the wild, which chooses its own food, has hardly any of that in its tissues and supplies quantities of un-saturated fat which is good for us if we don't overdo it.

This is why our upper-classes only eat game reared in the wild.

Also, factory farmed animals are unhappy, and the meat from them must contain certain things which reflect that.

There doesn't seem a lot of point in tooling up to protect yourself with expensive hardware when you don't protect yourself from your own taste-buds.

One traditional protection is being bled regularly. The new blood which your body makes to replace the bleeding is cholesterol free and this dilutes your cholesterol for a time. Hence leeches.

That is why females don't run the same risk as men although they catch up after the menopause.

Our love affair with meat began with animals from the wild. The un-saturated fat was a valuable food. Now we have a fat glut but not from the wild.

A further problem exists with fat that has been heated up once.

But it's a free country.

Cold, homemade baked beans and ham while standing next to the sink. I got home late. Another late shift tonight but since the leftovers are chicken with peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, onions and garlic on rice, I may have to dredge up the patience/energy to wait for the microwave to work its magic.

mashed root veg (sweet potatoes, potatoes, turnip)
weird pork steak things - not getting those again
red cabbage and apple sauce

this would have been best left as a vegetarian meal

I'm feeling like simple cooking tonight (it's pretty hot & windy out there!) so I've settled for an asparagus & (Aborio) rice soup. (With lots of flat leaf parsley & a bit of garlic cooked in olive oil.) The recipe book calls it Asparagus soup with Rice & Parmesan, but if it isn't eaten right away it almost turns into a risotto. Worse things can happen, I guess .... Smile

@msolga,
Friday night and pretty simple msolga. Garfish fillets on the bbq with lemon sauce, and green King Prawns covered with garlic salt, all eaten on the patio with a bottle of Brown Bros Moscato.

I gather it's pretty hot in SA today, too & you'll be dining el fresco?

@ossobuco,
Sorry to have taken so long to answer your posted inquiry, Osso.
Beef Wellington is tenderloin of beef wrapped in puff pastry
and roasted to your specification. During the roasting process,
the pastry absorbs gravy issued from the beef. Its really very good.

Last nite, I attended Charlie Mom 's
at 6th Ave. n 11th Street.
My friend Marty put his dining group into it.
Rather a simple Chinese restaurant.
I had Egg Drop Soup (pretty good), Peking Duck
and vanella ice cream. Flavor was good;
a little stingy with the portions.

There were multiple side dishes. Roasted nuts.
