wonderfully warm and sunny day in eastern ontario today .
after we came home from the morning swim , we had a bowl of cereal , fruit and yoghurt and decided to take a drive into the country .
we steered into the usual direction "prince edward county"- also called "quinte isle" , a sort of peninsula/isle juttting out into lake ontario .
we had lunch at "the doctor's house" - the former residence of a country doctor that has been developed into an inn , winery , cottage resort and cookery school .
we mixed and matched : a clam chowder , beer batterd cod and a tasty brown-ale steak and mushroom pie .
for dessert we shared a large - and sinful

- slice of milk-chocolate-expresso cake with creme fraiche and dark chocolate curls and a large pot of tea .
it's already 6 pm and i'm not ready for the evening sandwich yet - it pays to have a good lunch

.
