Very hard to consider doing anything vaguely ambitious in the kitchen in this sweltering heat. That would mean cleaning up the mess, after. No, I don't think so! ..... So maybe a cheese & tomato sandwich & a few slices of water melon? Or perhaps a simple omelette?

Last night we had sesame-ginger glazed porkchops with rice and carrot "souffle". It was very good.

Grilled Chicken with Artichoke and mushroom linguine (whole wheat) and steamed Green Beans. Glass of Riesling with it - it was good. I am having more for lunch. Not the wine though. mehbe latah

Hello fellow foody-talkin peoples.

I can't stop eating.

Somebody stop me before I explode.

Today I've had,

bag of pretzels
2 chocolate biscuits
chinese lunch (large portions)
lemon meringue pie
bowl of cornflakes
pasta sauce with 2 large slices of bread
popcorn
loads of olives

and

I want some more cornflakes

is that really greedy?

I like big butts and I can not lie
You other brothers can't deny
That when a girl walks in with an itty bitty waist
And a round thing in your face
You get sprung, wanna pull out your tough
'Cause you notice that butt was stuffed
Deep in the jeans she's wearing
I'm hooked and I can't stop staring
Oh baby, I wanna get wit'cha
And take your picture
My homeboys tried to warn me
But with that butt you got makes me feel so horny
Ooh, Rump-o'-smooth-skin
You say you wanna get in my Benz?
Well, use me, use me
'Cause you ain't that average groupy
I've seen them dancin'
The hell with romancin'
She's sweat, wet,
Got it goin' like a turbo 'Vette
I'm tired of magazines
Sayin' flat butts are the thing
Take the average black man and ask him that
She gotta pack much back
So, fellas! (Yeah!) Fellas! (Yeah!)
Has your girlfriend got the butt? (Hell yeah!)
Tell 'em to shake it! (Shake it!) Shake it! (Shake it!)
Shake that healthy butt!
Baby got back!

God Bless Sir Mixalot

How's that sweltering heat working out for ya today msolga?

Spare a thought for us all shivering over here in the UK.

All this wind and rain is playing havoc with my hair too.

Fantasy dinner would be something like lamb hotpot with red cabbage and fresh crusty white bread with butter.

mmmmmmmmm

Reality dinner will probably be Heinz Chicken Noodle Soup (with loads of black pepper in 'cos it's dead boring)

Confused

I doctored up the cauliflower potato (onion, garlic, celery, chili pepper) soup with both sweet red pepper sauce and marinated roasted tomatoes. Finally perfect and now it's gone...

I do Alex...2 tbsp olive oil, one of butter - 1 tbsp flour ....cook over medium heat about 3 minutes until the flour starts turning a golden brown. Then add chicken broth...you can use canned but I usually make my own...I used 2 cups. Increase the heat a bit and cook until it thickens. I then add 2 cloves of garlic, salt and pepper to taste about 2 tsp of lemon juice and 1 tsp of parsley...I cook that 5 minutes, I then add a can of quartered artichoke hearts, drained and about 2 cups of fresh mushrooms - simmer....when they are ready I just put my linguine in and toss....

I use this sauce for several things...sometimes I add some parmesan...about a tbsp...sometimes not...just depends if I have the fresh or not.

It really is Osso - it is one of those easy recipes you can use for company but is not so technical that you mind cooking it for your family - and the boys love the whole wheat linguine and sauce...though they avoid the mushrooms and the artichoke hearts like the plague!

I haaaaaaaaate commercial marinated artichokes, but sometimes make my own with the canned. Cheating. One of these days I'll do fresh marinated ones, but it's sort of a pain and they're expensive. I keep meaning to try frozen artichoke hearts but don't think I've ever seen them in my markets.

That's me...I just don't have the time to do the longer or more prep kind of cooking I would like to. I get the water packed artichoke hearts and they are not so bad...the marinated ones are too strong.

I am making ham and bean soup tonight...kind of country but so good!
