Mini-me's birthday. Went out for barbecue then had chocolate cake and ice cream. His choice.

That's what gave me the idea for the leftovers

But I used up mashed potatoes rather than make a biscuit crust.
boiled beef mince ball plus vermicelli (made from been starch)
chicken "in the pot" with a potatoe , sweet potateo , squash casserole ; veggie juice and plain boston lettuce on the side .
also some horseradish sauce for dipping .
Some sort of old fashioned comfort food is necessary tonight, I think. Something like a Tuna Mornay, perhaps? A pretty flash name for a casserole made from tinned tuna!
Last night I had dinner at La Pergola - tortelloni with parma ham and figs. It was a wonderful combination.

It does sound wonderful, urs. Wish I'd had that, rather than my boring dinner tonight!

(Apart grom the garlic) what sort of sauce/s, dadpad? (Homemade lasagne is terrific!)
Last night we had cajun meat loaf with corn and mashers.
Chicken and chips in a basket at my local, washed down with one or two good beers.
Burp.
Linguine with pesto sauce.
Home made Pumpkin soup, laced with bacon pieces, spring onion, parm cheese and goats milk fetta.
Sour dough bread decorated with sunflower seeds.
Roasted partridge (grouse) that I shot myself, rice, and broccoli.
Sauteed some cremini mushrooms and red onions in smoked bacon - and then swirled it all into a can of cream of mushroom soup. Almost instant and twice as yummy. Love those creminis.
Criminis or Cremenis or whatever, they are just brown button mushrooms. If you let them get really big then they call them "portobellos" and charge even more for them.
One of my pet peeves about the grocery aisle is the lack of good mushrooms like chanterelles or morels (even in season), and when they do have them, they are horribly expensive.
Tonight we had spaghetti with red sauce/gravy and sausage. It was OK, but the company sucked.
S'funny, I usually call them brown mushrooms, but the store insists on calling them cremini. In any case, I do love them. There's a new source of mushrooms around here somewhere (I wonder if it's djjd's operation), and their products are superb. Love love love 'em.
They aren't bad, but they are really just the same as the white ones, only brown. My idea of a mushroom (this is the blonde or white morel - the blacks and greys are equally as good):
Mussels in tomato sauce with bread and a bottle of red wine shared with a friend. Wonderful!
