This is the point MM is making. Those doing the crime are not likely to enforce the laws involving that crime. I don't think the analogy of the serial rapist quite fit, but I did understand the overall point.

This in no way addresses those who have reformed themselves and are now operating legally. It does address that those who have no problem with their own illegality are not likely to be particularly bothered by the illegality of others.

We don't need snipers. Ever see those motion activated sprinklers that keep animals out of your yard.... just replace the sprinkler with a .50 BMG.

As I stated many pages ago, the Minuteman operation is an opportunity
for the wrong people to harass those poor people. Our local newspaper
reported about these self proclaimed Minuteman volunteers who are in
this for all the wrong reason. I wonder who is checking the background
of these Minuteman volunteers.

Even the local police has had numerous altercations with Minuteman
militia members.

But while my illegal alien buddies are working and contributing to the US economy...

The minutemen are just sitting in the desert, building 400 yards of fence in 2,000 miles of border (thanks Colbert) and convinceing hundreds (yes that's hundreds with an 'H') of people to join them in a caravan to Washington.

America was built by those of us who are willing to roll up their sleeves and work, not by those who sit around and whine that someone else might be getting b break.

It would be better for us all if it were the Minutemen who were deported.

After all, I have got a job to do.

I appreciate the minutemen, just as I appreciate our military fighting the scum overseas.

The minutemen are volunteering their time to protect our border. I certainly don't think that is just sitting around.

It doesn't suprise me that you guys won't go. You wouldn't go if the Mexican army was invading, or OBL.

The minutemen are a mixture, some of them are racist scum... but not all. Some of them are just pathetic losers.

That is not to say I don't appreciate them, I do.

The Senate is about to pass a bill that will include a path to citizenship for the people who have been living and working illegally for years and have roots here. There is a chance that with the presidents help, this bill could make it through the House before the election in November (and after the election it may be even eaiser). This is much better for my "illegal alien buddies" than the status quo.

It may be the agitation of the minutemen will be the reason that my "illegal alien buddies" get the opportunity to become US citizens.

When this happens, I will personally send Jim Gilchrist a thank you note.
