ralpheb, machines can't be used everywhere, try to pick strawberries,
oranges, or any fruit from trees for that matter with a machines. It
won't work, otherwise machines would be used. If you give a farmer
the option between 50 undocumented workers versus one single machine
who can do the job, they all take the machine.

And yes Foxfyre, definitely. The best solution that would really make me happy would be that my humble country turns into an independent nation, that can give a decent home and decent life to its citizens. That however, won't seem to happen anytime soon, for quite a number of reasons.

Thanks for the compliment though! Hopefully a website named "capazporconocer.com" or similar is debating the same issue, from a south-to-north perspective.

And if he has his choice between 50 ILLEGALS that he can pay under the table and not pay medical benifits to or pay taxes on he will chose them of 50 Legalized immigrants that he must pay all that too PLUS he still gets a stipened from the government.

you wouldn't say that. A machine is amortized in a few
years and that's the end of it. The 50 undocumented workers
require far more maintenance.

el_pohl, that would be ideal. Mexico is a rich country, I mean
rich on natural resources such as minerals (silver, copper,
zinc etc.) and agriculture (tabacco, coffee, beans etc.) in
addition to a cheap labor force that's ideal for manufacturing.
The country could be very, very profitable for everyone,
if it would weed out the corruption, starting from the top of
the government down to the various police officer.

Mexico is an oligarchy. Maybe we should get the CIA to foment a revolution to establish a democracy. Even a Castro-style communist state would serve the common man more than this one does.

Right, schmight, once these people are living in the US, they become
our responsibility, thus we have to see that a) their children (mostly born
in the US) get an adequate education, b) they're provided with healthcare
and c) that we treat them in a decent manner.
