@msolga,
Found a good local vet!!!!! Yay!!!!!!

Appears to love animals.....nurses were fabulous...

Bad news is, Miranda needs teeth out (she WON'T eat bones and all the suppsedly teeth-cleaning stuff I have given her hasn't worked) and likely has pneumonia. She's on antibiotics for that.

AND...she PEED on my PILLOW yesterday!!!

I assume because she is ill???

It's on the mattress.

Any foolproof cat piss odour killers out there?

@dlowan,
Well done, 99! A good (& local even!!) vet is a gift from the gods!

But poor Miranda! Teeth extractions on the agenda & she peed on your pillow! (She would be quite mortified. This is so unlike her fastidious self! Sad )

So it looks like pneumonia? Fingers crossed that she makes a reasonably quick recovery. Poor possum.

As for foolproof cat piss odour killers, I honestly haven't a clue, Deb. But maybe someone else has?

I just hope she gets better soon. (How old is Miranda now?)

@msolga,
She was ttally UNmortified.

I WAS mortified. I am STILL mortified. Amongst other things.

She'll be 14 on Wednesday.

Poor Miranda!

Ask the vet about smell-eliminating or -reducing products. Some years ago, when my previous cat, Tigger, was sick, she recommended something - but I can't remember what it was now. Worked pretty well, though!

We've got a new cat coming just before christmas

He's a Maine Coon and about 8 weeks old, he'll be coming when he's 12 weeks. No ideas for a name yet (at least not one we both agree on).

@msolga,
We're hoping he'll brighten Sam's days - hey even being annoyed is entertaining!

Being "annoyed" by frisky young kittens is what it's all about, hinge! Great fun!

But why do Sam's days need brightening, though?

@msolga,
We just get the feeling he's getting a little bored, he's an inside only cat, and during the day the dogs are outside. We think he'd like company.

@hingehead,
Oh HH.... wee kitty looks gorgeous!

our big kitty disappeared a week after we moved and the little fella desperately wants us to get a kitten.... 2 dogs here ... still thinking on it at the moment, but have ordered a new door with a cat-flap... so... think we may just be getting one! Wink

Make sure you post pics when the new kitten arrives, won't you?

About cap flaps: I've had them for years with no problems. BUT recently a young male tabby called Nelson (Yes, Nelson!!!!) moved in next door ..... & he thinks my place is very nice to visit when I'm away! Evil or Very Mad

@msolga,
G'day Olga

Does Poppy wear a collar?

You can get magnetic locks, so that only the cat with the collar can get through the cat flap.

Hinge - 2 inside cats! brave fellow! And it's be fun shopping for more furniture, curtains, etc.!

@margo,
You guys are making me nervous - often Sam is lying in the same place in the afternoon when I get home as he was when we left him - I was kind of hoping the two of them would lie around together all day and maybe play a little pinochle. Now I'm getting quotes to vulcanise the interior of the house!

Ragdolls and Maine Coones are pretty placid, dare I say 'lazy', fluff balls, and although Sam likes the occasional full pelt lap around the house screaming, generally he doesn't break things. Although he does like to push your homework of the glass dining table (which he considers to be his bed).
