Catching up with all the kitties and their humans. Deb, my heart goes out to you. I'm glad you can simply enjoy her while she is still enjoying life. It is too easy to slip into a state of mournful expectation.

Roberta, I'm sorry aobut the cat allergies. I am terribly allergic, but I can afford to get allergy shots. They make all the difference with only an occasional itchy nose and itchy, runny eyes.

Being allergic to boids too is just awful. Damn, sweetie, there must be something out there that is cuddly, smart, (aleck) and demanding enough for you. I'll keep thinking.

CJ, good news about Lou.

Now, msolga, where is that poppy update?

<Trying to think of an un-feathered, un-furred & not-to-demanding critter for Roberta. ... um, a lizard? Nah ..... a fish? Hmmmm, I'll keep working on this!>

Good morning, Diane!

Well, since you insist! Laughing:

Update # 1:

It is an exquisitely beautiful, cool-ish morning here! After days & days of heat & sogginess more reminiscent of northern Queensland, there's the smallest hint of a chill (well, almost!) in the air! Yay!Very Happy

Ms Poppy has revived at last, after hours each day spent in her secret grotto under the mandarine tree, cleverly hidden amongst the nasturtiums. (I was wondering for days just where she was hibernating during the worst of it!)
But this morning she's invigorated! Full of beans. She has responded to this temporary reprieve from the heat by returning to her fitness regime!
As I type she is running (no, frolicking! Laughing ) full speed, up & down the decking along the side of the house. Up & down, up & down. Full speed ahead! As I have every door & window open to let in the morning air, every now & then she jumps through the lounge room window, then gallops, full speed, to the back door ... then back onto the decking! Very funny to watch. Such simple, uncomplicated happiness!

She has also taken to having "dust baths", rather like a duck! Yesterday, in the backyard, I discovered her flip-flopping from side to side with great relish on a newly developed dusty bit of what used to be my lawn. (Now quite dead from the lack of rain) When I approached her she flip-flopped with even more enthusiasm & let out a series of welcoming meows. She seemed to be inviting me to join in the fun! Laughing No way, she was totally covered in bits of dried grass & dust!

She is a very sweet (don't like that word, but it's definitely appropriate) natured cat. Not at all complicated or demanding. (Quite a change, compared to what I've been used to! ) A very loyal critter whose never far from home base. Not bad for a 3 year old "reject" from a shelter, hey? I think I've done well with Poppy. Very Happy

Yikes, we're all too warm, Roberta!

I agree with you about Poppy's gentle & contented disposition. She is indeed a sweet cat & I find her delightful company.

It's taking a bit of getting used to, though, after the on-going feline catastrophes of the not-too-recent-past, though.
I keep checking, just in case ......

Little Patty was sweet and uncomplicated. She was a breath of fresh air in a house filled with Miranda, who was sometimes sweet and always complicated. Enjoy the joy, msolga.

Pretty good...yelling that I haven't fed her, although I have.

One supposes that the best gourmet catfood has not met with Her Highness' approval.

She was wearying of the prime steak, so I got Her Majesty some ultimate canned food.

She sounds fine. And aren't you the indulgent one? (I did the same thing when my Miranda was sick.)

Tell me!

My Miranda has always been a very dainty eater.....now the meds are making her hungry, but her TASTES are as dainty as ever.

Still, when every day may be her last, she has me wrapped around her little paw.

Comprendo totally. And did exactly the same thing. My Miranda liked her chicken breast poached rather than broiled.

sweet and uncomplicated is lovely - she's a real character with her antics too.

Good that Miranda is fine as well. Very Happy

They get used to their expensive tastes being indulged all too quickly don't they? Ours learned that looking soulful, pathetic and starving when given inferior food usually softens us up into giving in and providing something better - despite the well padded upholstery they carry Rolling Eyes

Rosie is snoozing, I don't know where Paddy is and the squirrels are racing and leaping about in the garden.

Yesterday one of them had been sitting on the bird table eating - it's a simple 5ft 6in post with a flat board on top - and decided to come down head first down the post ..... then changed his mind .... he just hung by his back toes off the edge of the board, totally head first, quite relaxed, while he obviously changed his mind and wondered what to do next, staying there for nearly 2 minutes! ..... then swung back up and continued eating before skittering off to play some more.

Paddy hasn't managed to lose his collar .... yet.

Deb, it's good to hear Mirand is doing well. It almost sounds as if Miranda is keeping you busy in order for you to feel helpful; not bad, considering how we all feel in these helpless times when death is so near.

Vivien, I was just feet away as I read about your goofy squirrel. They are all goofs and love to play at acrobatics. I once had a cat who dearly wanted to catch one of those squirrels, but never did. Our neighbors, on the other hand, had a miniature Schnauzer who caught several of them.

If I dare to venture out in my car today, I plan to buy some bird seed to feed the little critters while everything is covered with snow.

Glad to hear that Miranda is perking up!

Still, worriesome, though.

My new camera and I will be in Melbourne in 2 weeks. I'm sure Popopy will photograph OK. <now, how to sneak into MsOlga's place???>
