Mags it is a relief to know that my neurotic little madame isn't the only one to behave this way.

I don't feel inclined to invest in any more Feliway as the vet said it might not work for her with her not having been brought up by cats and only learning 'cat language' late.

It's tough at the moment! Paddy got furious about taking his antibiotic this morning, thankfully only one left to go, though there's still his nighttime pain killer drops.

2 cats who are very suspicious of me at the moment and not exactly me friends Crying or Very sad

madame Rosie sulking on the back of the chair, strongly lit by the window on one side and dissolving into darkness on the other

Vivien, I understand your reluctance about Feliway. For whatever it's worth, this nonsense will eventually pass without permanent damage. I know Paddy is furious and Rosie is put off by the vet smell. It's not a nice position to be in.

Good morning, Vivien. Very Happy

I hope those critters are treating you a bit better today!

Maybe it isn't that Paddy smells like the vet surgery but that he doesn't smell like Paddy to Rosie? It could be very confusing, I'd imagine. Who is this strange creature who looks like Paddy, but sort of isn't ....? Confused

I loved your sketch of Rosie.

It's cold here & Poppy & I are now into round 99 of the great ducted heating stand-off! <sigh> Apart from this, she's been just fine. Such an independent little thing she is!

How's your Paddy adapting to his new home, Misti?

I took Paddy back to the vet yesterday and she confirmed what I thought the night before - his hip has popped out again Sad

I could feel the round end of the bone.

So she took the sling off - amidst a great deal of bad language Shocked as it was stuck to his fur and he had a haircut to get it off , she said he was very good as she often has to anaesthetise them to do this.

Anyway he's hobbling about well, still on painkillers, she's going to look at him in a week and we'll make decisions about what to do - the airways problem is another factor in not operating yet, if that's what we do.

We'll talk it through thoroughly next week.

I'm so sorry to hear this, Vivien. Sad

This is a tough stretch, for sure.

Please give Paddy & Rosie some extra hugs from me tonight.
And give yourself a big pat on the back for coping so well in the circumstances!

Please do keep us posted.

It's a wonder I didn't murder himself last night Evil or Very Mad

I came home from visiting my parents to find that Paddy had slipped past him when he opened the door to neighbours and they hadn't been able to catch him.

So ..... Paddy was out all night, at one point on top of the high fence alongside the garden - about 8ft plus high and covered in climbing plants .... with dislocated hip Shocked

We're supposed to be keeping him within a confined space Rolling Eyes

I'd gone up to my parents to escape a running commentary and vitriolic comments on the football (boredom!) ...... only to run into the same situation but over the cricket from my father Rolling Eyes (equal boredom!) - why do men have to give a running commentary of instructions and abuse on sports?????

OH NO, Vivien! Shocked

Is Paddy OK now?

As for men & sport, well that's a complete mystery to me! Confused Perhaps someone like margo can explain it to you.

I hope Paddy's okay now. It is a miracle you didn't kill himself. Men are sometimes so careless.

I am lucky to have a husband who doesn't enjoy sports. I've never understood the fascination myself.

Did Paddy come in voluntarily, or did you have to do a search?

My Paddy has seemingly adjusted to his new home ... he now prowls the porch/patio without fear of the water or the critters. We have an abundance of wildlife here, which is awesome! We have duck families, dolphin, racoon family, and I hear they actually caught a 11 ft. alligator some couple of years ago.

Paddy is more content now, which I'm very happy about ... he now knows the bedroom I belong to, which is not the one he wanted for me!

Paddy is the funniest little critter I've ever known, he speaks my language!

oh I'm pleased your Paddy has settled so happily.

The new place sounds amazing! do you look out onto the water then? how about some photos? a new thread with your pics on????

our Paddy is moving better all the time. I don't know what the vet will suggest on Thursday as the way forward. He can get up a fair burst of speed and doesn't think twice about jumping and climbing.

You can feel the top of his leg bone out of the socket.

Rosie is far far less freaked and will even be in the same room and near him now but still hisses if he walks towards her Rolling Eyes needless to say she gets told off. He looks suprised but not too fazed by it.

Vivien, your poor Paddy ... he must be a real trooper to withstand all that's going on with his body, and I sure hope they'll be able to fix it soon. Although, he doesn't seem any worse off for this condition, and that's a good thing!

I will post some pics as soon as the place is presentable, there's still a lot to be done, and sis is great at organizing! Right now all our pictures are lined up in the hallway waiting for placement. Sis is suffering at the moment from low potassium levels, which manifests itself in her hands, they stiffen and hurt like no tomorrow. As soon as this episode passes she will be working hard again at shaping this place up.

Hugs to Paddy and Rosie, and yourself!

Paddy update: the vet is pleased with his progress, on further reading the complicated 'best' operation is only suitable for dogs, cats have more fragile bones.

She feels he is doing well enough that no op at all may be the option but is reviewing him a week on Monday - and we have to stand the soulful eyes, miaowing at us pitifully and pointed looks at the patio door until then Crying or Very sad

I hope he's ok without an op as he's been through enough. He's jumping here there and everywhere and scrambling about without guarding his leg or flinching.

The possible op simply cuts the head off the femur so that it slides against the hip bone.

Hope the settling in is going well Misti.

MsPoppy updates????? (I've been painting poppies incidentally Smile )

Vivien ~ I am still praying for Paddy. I'm hoping he'll eventually realize that being inside is safer than out. Lacey managed a two hour 'escape' almost two months ago and I haven't let her outside since. She cries a little bit, but she's going to have to get over it. The community I live in has a feral cat problem and she has come to enjoy (since her adoption) the safety of 'home'. And I really don't care what other people think, or how much Lacey cries.....I'd much rather have her with me than not.

My best to you and yours.....Tell Paddy he's out of luck. He'll get used to it eventually.

Rae Very Happy

I'm very relieved the vet is pleased with Paddy's progress, Vivien. Now if only he'd be a bit more careful & sensible!

A Poppy update is coming soon, I promise. (A long, hard day at work today!) Thanks for asking. Very Happy
