Just catching up on Miranda news, I'm sorry, Deb. 16 is impressive indeed, and I do hope that she continues to be a happy little pud for a while yet...

Well...actually, she looks damned good!

I managed to email vet before I left, and spoke to her today.

Basically, a new staff member spoke to me last week, and seems to have had a different idea to vet re treatment and prognosis.

Of course, we have no way of knowing how long she has, but she is responding well (and is not stressed by) being put on a saline drip. She is bouncing around like (and LOOKS like) a young cat.

Looks as though there is almost no chance of her needing to be euthanased while I am away next week...and she may last well into next year.

She is also settling happily into the routine of time with me/time at vet's...and she now has some staff wrapped around her little digit.

She has also formed a good relationship with the clinic cat (a delightfully warm and kindly gentleman beautifully dressed in a tuxedo) and, when I explained about her love for Oscar, they thought they would experiment with leaving her cage door open at night to see if she wants to cuddle with this debonair puss cat.

Sounds like she's adapting better than expected. And a new friend.

Fingers crossed.

@dlowan,
Dammit, dlowan, that is exhilaratingly good to read.

Sigh, Tux memories. We had ferals around our studio. Spoiled brats they were, and oft nabbed for genital maneuvers.

any suggestions on how to break a kitten of eating everything in site? anything paper anywhere is doomed and it's becoming problematic. Pictures, papers, bills, my desk calendar.... I mean anything. the water bottle thing is no deterrent. She has toys and another cat to play with, and gets a lot of time with the laser pointer so I know she's not bored.

@blueveinedthrobber,
I have only encountered two cats that have done that and both grew out of it. I have no clue why they do it and why nothing seems to deter them from the behavior. One cat stayed in my shelter for the longest time because he would constantly tear up paper. It was like he was obsessed with it but one day he just stopped. I know how frustrating it can be and I do empathize with you.

@blueveinedthrobber,
Sorry, but no. I have a cat that does that with plastic. I'm constantly pulling plastic bags out of his mouth and having to deal with shredded toilet paper packages. He's almost 9 and he still does it.

@Aldistar,
When you find something you're completely passionate about why not stick to it?

And toilet paper shredding is an art form!

@tsarstepan,
LOL! I don't know how many times I have come home from work when I have had kittens in the house and my house looks like a blizzard came through because of the toilet paper. The puppies would play with it but they mostly just roll it all over the house. The cats are the ones that do the "explosing".

@Arella Mae,
Our dog does it. He's tall enough to reach the kitchen countertops, so he'll grab the paper napkins and shred them. Also newspaper fliers if we leave them there. And bills...of course, we don't mind him shredding those LOL. He'll also empty out the tupperware cabinet and chew on the lids. He's awesome LOL.

@dlowan,
Oh wow, missed this 'til now.... amazingly good news!

Came here to post this (show this to Lash next time she says cats are all standoffish n stuff). (Sorry the guy doesn't have more clothes on, it'd be a much more appealing video if he was wearing at least pants.)
