@dlowan,
Oh fer crissake! This just gets worse and worse!!!

I put the pissed on pillow in the washing machine, (with little hope of good, but without fear of further ill) and it has burst.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGYHHHHHH

And I can't even stop the damn thing and get the mess out, because front-loaders don't let you DO that!!!!

@dlowan,
Not that long, Deb, I'm sad to say.
And my memory is a little hazy. It is quite a while ago, now.
About 10 days, 2 weeks, as best I can recall.
But then, he'd been seriously ill (one condition after another) for years by that time.
I suspect that all the medication necessary to treat his ailments contributed to his kidneys failing.

@dlowan,
This, I'm afraid, is not your day!
Though far worse things could happen!
Look on the bright side! Wink Smile

@tsarstepan,
Actually...while it may still be dead...it DIDN'T Burst in the machine!!! What looked like eider down featherlings lying athwart the glass was, in reality, pillow cover!

I just got brave enough to start cleaning up and found it whole and laid it out in the sun to dry.

Of course, cat piss and washing it may still have led to its demise, but at least I have a body to bury...and I am not engaged in cleaning millions upon millions of featherlings out of the machine's innards.

@dlowan,
Something I tried to remember when I had my homeless cat shelter, "It's not how long they live that matters, it's how well they lived." Sixteen is quite an age for a cat and I'd say you had a lot to do with that. With cats that live that long, it's usually found that they have a wonderful environment and are extremely content.

Jeez, Deb, what a nightmare!

I hope Miranda doesn't get too stressed while you're away.

@farmerman,
It's the Australian version of the legendary Wilhelm screen used by so many sound engineers in so many countless Hollywood films:

Dlowan, I'm sorry to hear about Miranda's health taking a down-turn. How's she doing today?

That's the tough thing..I don't know....I am abandoning her for the next two weeks...I am spending the next fortnight in the outback for work. I am very unlikely to be able to talk to vet during that time...unless we can find phones to use somewhere.

I hope to be able to pick her up next Saturday and return her on Monday am next week...but I can only do this if we are taking the big plane up (had to leave her at vet's yesterday...today is Sunday here because we are taking little planes, and we have to leave at 7.00 am Monday because they are slower.)

I hope she lasts happy and well long enough for me to give her at least a couple of normal weeks at home after that (with me just going to normal work) so I can give her lots of cuddles and nice time before the end. I don't have to start flying out on alternate weeks until late February...and I don't see her lasting until then.

I know the vet's will be great to her (they all love her and she comes home happy) but she is still not home and not getting to cuddle with me and all.

Oh, I know. You have to reconcile to the shorter life span and all with animals, or it's just nuts.

I'm finding it really hard with this little girl, though and it's really hard having to leave her right now. Still, she's in good hands.

I have found the answer to the stinking litter box problem and why it lingers so much. My sweet little mini puss, and it is her... farts constantly and it's directly out of Jurassic Park. I thought that was mostly a dog problem. I have a friend who's a vet and I'm going to consult him about this. It's awful.

@blueveinedthrobber,
don't use a cork.

the cat doesn't like it, and it won't stay in...

(could even be dangerous, wear eye protection)

@dlowan,
Just catching up on Miranda news, I'm sorry, Deb. 16 is impressive indeed, and I do hope that she continues to be a happy little pud for a while yet...
