Came here to post this (show this to Lash next time she says cats are all standoffish n stuff).
Advice on cats:
They are standoffish if they don't know you. I hear the way to overcome it is to hold out your hand to them palm down. This has worked well on all the cats and dogs I have met on the street or in friends' apartments.
I laughed! Soz, you know this is NOT an average cat! (But, I loved it!) Precious.
...and the guy's wardrobe is just fine...

@Oylok,
It really depends on the cat. My daughter calls me the cat whisperer and I can make almost any cat like me, but some cats LOVE me while some cats merely deign to allow me to admire them (and their owners say "wow she loves you! usually she scratches everyone.")
Lash, glad you liked it.

@sozobe,
Yikes - that could be Possum - pay attention, NOW!
And those paws are not patting, they have at least one claw out - just to focus you.

My poor Tabbie cat! His fur got all matted and I couldn't get him to sit still to brush him or cut them out. They got so bad that his entire back turned into a solid mass.
Hubby and I finally cornered him and while hubby held him down I had to take buzz cutters to him. My poor baby...if he ever comes out from under the couch I will have to get pictures and post his shame.

I don't think they're impressed with the hoopla...
Reuters Pictures Two Scottish folds wearing Christmas costumes are presented during a two-day international cat exhibition in Rostov-on-Don, December 4, 2010.
Sorry, since I instinctively feel sorry for the animal, its hard for me to "get" this type of humor...
Have to say I'm with you on this Snood - couldn't help worrying about the cat.

@snood,
I'm with you on this one.
For what it's worth, when I was very, very young I dropped a cat on my father's bare back. First thing I should mention is that I never, ever even thought about doing this a second time. Second, if a thrown cat lands on someone, that someone is going to be doing a lot of bleeding.

@snood,
My posting is not an attempt to understand it's alleged humor but wonder why this is done in the first place, let alone why even call it art....
The stupid thing is that it seems that almost everyone is in on the schtick and were not surprised as they have their bloody cell phones and their cameras ready to try and capture this flash mob/alleged public prank.
