Welcome back, Misti! Lovely to see you here again! Very Happy

And what news of that naughty Paddy-cat? I assume he's been giving you hell for your absence?

Stanley is delightful. I've always had a soft spot for grey tabbies. Such survivers!

I have a cute story involving my cat. Earlier today I was trying to watch the NFL draft on tv and my cat kept jumping up on my lap and spilling my coffee.

I was watching tv in the basement and right above the tv is a small window that looks into the window well. There are actually two windows -- the interior and the storm. I opened the interior window and placed the cat against the storm, then quickly pushed it shut, wedging him inside in a very comical fashion.

His face was kind of twisted sideways and I could hear his pathetic meowing as I tried to watch the draft. His one eye was locked right on me and, because I found that to be a bit unnerving, I was compelled to close the curtain.

As soon as I get back from the liquor store I plan on releasing the cat. We'll both look back at this incident and laugh.

You think so, Gus? If I was you I'd be watching my back for a wee bit! Cat revenge can be very, very, nasty!

Yes, I am aware of that. For that reason I am wearing a protective cup.

Here is Stanley, so totally adorable and so small ... as you can see he loves to climb on Rae's back, up and down, up and down ......... Lacey is not happy having a roommate, she hisses and acts very aggressive ... that's not Lacey, at all! I made such a fuss over Lacey tonight, let her know I loved her and wanted to be with her.

We all got a fright today, Rae couldn't find Stanley from about 9 a.m. to 6 pm, he was sleeping under her roommates bed.

Stanley has totally bonded with Rae, but she knows when her roommate leaves she will take Stanley with her! I know for a fact nobody will ever love him like Rae does!

Misti

What a darling cat! I just love grey tabbies, too - I've had a series of them But don't tell Possum-cat - he thinks he's the only one!

Olga - have you definitively settled on Poppy / Popsy as a name for Madam!?

And....where are the photos - I know you have a camera! Don't make me come down there and do them myself!

You are obviously quite taken with young Stanley, Misti. I can see why! Very Happy

Yes, margo, it's Madam Poppy. At last a name has stuck!

Oh, who could resist a kitten like that!

Hard to believe that Nisse and Mysan were this small once... Nisse likes to climb on my back, too. But that's a lot different with his weight of about 6.5 kg.

At the moment, he is bored. He just keeps complaining. He can be sooo talkative...

An update on Louis. On April 9, I gave him a de-wormer dose of praziquantel, an over the counter medication that is new on the market. Now, three weeks later, not only does he appear to be worm free, but he has gained some weight. He looks good and is a very happy cat.

Last night I wanted to shoot my cat, literally. I had some chicken breast out on the counter covered with plastic wrap. I walked away for a moment and Louis removed the wrap and stole a half breast, dragged it across the kitchen, and ate about 1/5 of it. So now before I could make dinner, not only did I have to defrost more chicken, I had to sanitize the kitchen. Grrrrrrrrrrr!!!

Time for a Poppy update, folks?
OK, you've talked me into it! Laughing

Ms Poppy is coming along in leaps & bounds! She now knows where her home is & it's here! As I mentioned before, she is very much an out-door critter. That's plain to see! She delights in bounding around the yard at great speed (tail all fluffed out & fully erect! Laughing) & loves it when I come out & watch her performance! Then she'll run at me, squeaking loudly (no, she's not going to be a meow-er) & flopping at my feet. She adores the wind! It brings out the lioness in her! Very Happy I've discovered that she stays very close to home: somewhere in the bushes in my garden (watching, watching ...) on top of the shed (a great place to catch some sun rays on these chilly autumn mornings), on top of the house or in the yard of the (obliging, thank goodness!) neighbours next door. That's the neighbours minus critters of their own, not those on the other side who are the owners of Oscar & Ollie, 2 mischievous little yappy terriers! (Smart thinking, Poppy!) Now that her initial excitement at being allowed out again has subsided a little, I'm pleased to see that she's coming inside & again (it's cold!) of her own free will after a bit of a romp, a visit to the toilet & a bit of surveillance of her territory. Right now she is fast asleep on the couch, having galloped back inside at top speed (Hi, it's me! Very Happy ) for many pats while performing flip-flops, emitting lots of loud squeaking noises & indulging in some contented dribbling! She'll emerge later, when it's a bit warmer. Poppy responds amazingly obligingly to having her outdoor activities curtailed when it gets dark. She complains a bit each time, but then settles in quite happily for the duration. She knows the curfew! Good! Finally, she has a delightful nature. Quite independent at times, yet at other times quite talkative & very affectionate. She can still be quite skittish at times & I think she always will be. Something to do with what happened to her in her previous life, I'm thinking. Wouldn't it be good if cats could talk so you could discover what sort of life they had before they met you? Now that would explain a lot of things!

I'm ready to strangle my cat.

He is constantly meowing for food. Jumps up on counters, stove and sink as soon as our back is turned to get at food. He even did it the other night while we were sitting at the table 3 feet away but with our backs turned. We had just cooked some fajitas and the leftover meat was still out on the stove cooling when he jumped up and helped himself.

The constant meowing is the worst though... it is driving me crazy!!!

I was thinking about a squirt bottle full of water to try a little behavior modification. Any other ideas?

Hi all!

Stanley is doing well, just saw him this evening ... he bounded out from his sleeping place acting excited to see us! He's so small you could think of him as a piece of dust or something like that. I went to get Lacey who was in her favorite spot, the window ledge in Rae's bedroom, who went directly to her food. Lacey was eating her food and Stanley was underneath her drinking from her water bowl, it was the funniest sight, one of those you knew if you moved to get your camera it would be over.

I worry so much about the kitties because Rae's roommate and her kids are really sloppy about opening/closing the doors, Lacey has run off several times, fortunately she came home, and still I worry that she could be hit by a car or hurt in some other way.

Rae spent some time today in the Emergency Room with severe low back pain, she couldn't walk or sit or lay down without severe pain. She was released to 3 days of bedrest and anti-inflammatory/pain meds, and followup with her doctor. She was feeling much better this evening ... so hopefully tomorrow will be even better.

Paddy is laying behind my chair as we speak, sleeping! We had some fun tonight with him laying on the floor and me placing a light sheet over him, he played possum until I sound concerned that "My Paddy" is lost, then he moved and found his way out of the dark. Such a cutie!

Love reading all your comments/stories, makes me feel good that our little pets are doing well and being taken care of with such love.

Hugs, G

A thought, jp ...

If this is a relatively recent development it could be worms. Maybe check on when the cat was last wormed. Cats develop insatiable appetites when they have worms. (I guess because the worms are getting the nutrients from the food & not the cat?)
