Hi, Diane! Very Happy
No, the update function doesn't appear to have been restored yet. No doubt there's detailed information of how, why, when & where on a thread here somewhere ..... In the meantime we just have to search for those threads we're looking for.

How's your menagerie getting along? Hope all critters (& their owners!) are fighting fit! Very Happy

We had a friend with a dog visiting on Friday afternoon. It was very interesting to see Nisse and Mysan reacting to it. First, they were both hiding upstairs, then they looked down the stairs, finally, Mysan ventured down. The dog loved everything - she is only 5 months old. She ate all the cat food she could find, then played with the cat toys, killed a furry mouse, tried to play with Mysan... But Mysan was busy showing how big and scary she can be! Her tail was all bushy. But they were not scared, I liked that. After the dog had left, they both sniffed everything she had touched. Very funny!

What happened to the "quick reply" feature?

Anyway, we took Louis along with us for a weekend getaway. He loved the "new house" and didn't sleep at all at night, with the new sounds keeping him entertained. In the car, however, whoa, never heard anything quite like it. We let him move around the van, and was he ever LOUD. MMMMMEEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWW!

It took him about an hour to settle down, and by then we were almost to our destination. Bizarre.

I do wish I had a cat with no health problems, but I love him for every single moment I have him. He knows when I am about to give him his medicine and he disappears! Not far, so I can catch him but just enough to cause me to spend time trying to follow him. High blood pressure, mild kidney failure, and asthma with one collapsed lobe of his lung. His days are numbered, I know, but he is still vital and with it and not suffering a bit!

I know exactly what you're talking about, Diane. I've had to do that a few times now. A strange mixture of sadness & worry (watching for the slightest sign, the smallest symptom) ... & absolute gratitude and joy for the "good" days. Those good days are a gift. Hang in there!

Nekochan is a master at laying on a guilt rip before our leaving for holiday.

She's diabetic, but the extra care she requires is simply a part of the household routine, nothing more.

Very Happy yes, I know that guilt trip thing - we went away to visit my daughter for Easter (just overnight) and got a frantic welcome back as though she'd been abandoned! (all Paddy wanted was someone to let him out!) This weekend I was away at the coast for 3 nights, painting with friends leaving her with himself. She didn't speak to me at first but then I got the welcome Very Happy

She'd been all worried as I packed to go and get miawing at me, piling on the guilt.

Nekochan is really beautiful.

Vivien --
Passed your compliment to Nekochan, and now I pass on to you her thanks.

She's a charmer at the vet's,and gets smiles from all the staff there, but doesn't hesitate to hiss her displeasure when her blood is drawn for glucose measurement.

Having to be lifted out of the suitcase while packing for a trip is a clear
statement of her opinion of the idea. However, I give her her due, by taking her out to the garden for some quality time, when we get back.

In 2004, I had to travel at least once a month for my job. Whenever I got my suitcase down, the cats started complaining. They were sitting on the suitcase looking at me with those big, sad eyes. As soon as I was out the door they jumped back onto the bed and went to sleep next to BigDice...

We will go on a two week vacation in May. I don't even want to think about leaving... I know they will be fine because our neighbour takes good care of them and they are not at all mad at us when we get home. But they will sit at the window, looking down at us... Need I say more.... Rolling Eyes

Cats know the minute you get your suitcases out....dogs know too. But cats more so. Intuitive little creatures!

I used to own a little bright yellow VW. Whenever I packed my stuff to head off & visit my family in the country, Pussa (a great big, callumping grey tabby) would promptly jump onto the passenger seat in anticipation of the thrip! I'd take him out, he'd jump in again. Repeatedly! He wasn't going anywhere!

Progress! (I must report this to you all! Laughing )

Today (cold & wet) Ms Poppy came back inside after her early morning outdoor routine, completely of her own volition! None of the usual 5 minutes of calling (when she's been under my nose the whole time, watching. Evil or Very Mad ) then feeling like a jailer as I shut her inside as I head off to work or whatever else I have to do! Nope, she decided today was not conducive to spending hours out there & joined me on the couch as I read my morning paper! Very Happy The other good news is that she obvious prefers the outdoors to her litter tray! I am now saving a small fortune in kitty litter costs! Very Happy The same tray has been sitting, unused in the laundry for about a week. This could explain her eagerness to visit the great outdoors before eating her breakfast (inside) each morning , perhaps? Very Happy

Oh & she's a very sweet thing, too! Very Happy

Neko, at the risk of becoming a repetitive bore, Nekochan is so the reincarnation of my Mozzie cat! For ages I gazed with great pleasure at her photograph. Aw, it's Ms Mozzie! Spitting image! She's just beautiful. Very Happy

Hi Ya'all,

Sorry I haven't been around much, but since returning from Ireland a lot has happened. My sister from Nevada has moved to Florida and we've been searching for a condo./house large enough for both of us. So far, the search is in vain. I've decided to give it up and let it go until the time is right.

Meantime, Rae's roommate came home with a little friend three days ago, her name is Betty ... yesterday, upon close inspection, it was decided her name would be Stanley .. surprise!!! Tomorrow night I get to meet Stanley for the first time, he's 6 weeks old and very entertaining.

I will take pictures and post them tomorrow, meantime, here he/she is:
