Thank you, Tico & Urs! I feel very proud of us, too!

So, this (chilly & windy) morning does she want her breakfast as usual? No, she wants to go outside & explore again! OK. Something like half an hour later she makes a mad, frantic bolt back inside. Oh no, I think, is she escaping from some ferocious local feline predator? Shocked

Nope.

She needed to use her litter tray!

Urgently!

Just made it in the nick of time, too! Laughing

This is a recent pic of Joe - he loves his cat tree - makes him feel superior to sit at the tallest point in the house...

Joe's and his brother George's eyes are the things people notice most. Especially George - like big pumpkin-colored things, always wide open, like he's startled.

Didn't make the cat tree - there's a guy here in San Antonio who creates them at his house/garage. They come from simple 4 ft things to monstrous 7 and 1/2 foot things with toys, baskets and scratching posts.

what a relief that Ms Poppsie is now an indoor-outdoor girl Very Happy

We went down to visit my daughter over Easter, leaving the cats at home - big feed on Saturday morning and plenty of dry food and water left and then home on Sunday night and another big dinner.

Rosie gave me an ecstatic welcome - Paddy simply ran to the door and sat blinking over his shoulder 'let me OUT'! himself fed him in the garden and he stayed out all night and has come in to eat and crash out this morning Rolling Eyes

We have a big cat tree, too. It goes all the way to the ceiling. So can you imagine sweet little Mysan sitting on the top platform of that thing - puking all the way down? Wonderful! :-)

Here's George, Msolga - him and his brother look alot alike, but the differences become obvious when you're around 'em.

Poppy did not take at all well to being locked inside again today, while I was at work! And I've been unable to entice her back inside tonight (even though it's getting dark!) She sort of lingers close to the house & reappears when I'm quite convinced she's made he escape & vanished!
Last night (& a very wild & windy, it was!) she decided to investigate the roof! Shocked I had to coax her down from the very top, the little devil! I think she has a bit of an untamed, independent streak. Probably was rugged, outdoor individualist in her previous life. hmmmm .....

Louis hates being locked in too - he often makes daring escapes, only to meekly appear from his wooded enclave when we go looking for him. If we let him just run though, he'd kill tons of nesting birds and other critters. When we get a house, maybe we'll let him out again and he can establish his territory.

All that adventurousness seemed cute to me, too - until I had a couple of cats come home near death. One we had to spend over a grand to save. He had ingested some string soaked in antifreeze.

My cats are forevermore indoors cats.

I agree, snood. Sometimes, I feel sorry that they don't even know that there is an outside world. But two of my sister's cats got killed...

Msolga, I will take a picture of the tree! They are indoor cats, they need lots of stuff to play with and to climb! We also have a piece of carpet on the wall so they can climb up the wall and sit on the wooden beams :-)

The monster Possum-cat doesn't like to come in at night, but..... he didn't get to be a monster critter by missing meals. He knows that when he comes in, late afternoon / evening, the cat-door is closed (and a bucket of bricks put in front of it - he's broken out when it was just a clip!) - and then he gets fed! There's now seldom any discussion about it.

However, on the odd occasion when he gets out - races through the garage as I put the car away at night, or my aunt forgets to shut the door when she's minding him, he's away like a shot!

He usually comes back after a cuppla hours, and howls piteously at the front door - lazy buzzard can't even be bothered going around the back to the cat flap. At least I know when he's home - but he's given me some anxious moments!

Well, we were gone for two nights, left the cat box in the kitchen (instead of the garage where it usually is, since they can't get in there when we're gone), and come home to find that Sticky hasn't used the box once while we were gone. What did she do? Used my houseplants.

GRRRR!!

Came home to plant dirt all over the floor and tracked onto the sofa, dead plants kicked out of the pot, etc...and I KNOW it was just to send me a message about being gone! Rolling Eyes

Oh, that's not very nice of Sticky, cyphercat. But how dare you leave her alone? ;-)

I am glad that our neighbour is a wonderful catsitter. She comes over at least twice a day when we are gone. So the cats are very happy!

Oh, I don't know about "cute", snood. Actually, this is a rather stressful process. It'd be easier training a kitten, I reckon, than a 3 year old with some unknown history & a bunch of independent tendencies ......

I can understand why many of you prefer your cats indoors for safety reasons. Me, I've never had a totally indoor cat. Ever. Mind you, my cats have all spent a lot of time, indoors, especially when it's cold. It just seems natural for a cat to be able to be outside, to me.

A question: have any of your cats had the FIV immunization? I was at Lort Smith (Animal Hospital - where I adopted Poppy - for her feline enteritis booster shot) & was asking the vet about it. Apparently FIV immunization is a relatively new thing .... the vet said they believe it be be about 80% effective. Anyone know any more about it?

msolga, my cats have not been vaccinated for it as they are indoors their whole lives and never met other cats. But, I will ask my vet...she is nothing short of a walking Veterinary Manual!

I will be back to you!

Tequila is doing just "ok"...I think this maybe his last year with me. I am enjoying him as many moments that I can. BTW, he is the only one to stand up to the dogs and meander by them like it was nothing. The Irish Wolfhound puppy still can't figure it out!
