@Reyn,
Oh, Reyn, I SO identify with this!

Happy is Never, Ever going out. NEVER, as long as I have legs and hands!

I think it may depend on what age that they become an indoor cat? Dunno, we'll see, I guess.

We're being super-cautious, anyways.

BK and Osso, great pictures! Laughing

She sure did! Smile

What a sweet little thing he was! (And still is, of course!)

@Reyn,
Er, well Reyn, MY cats never forgot and never quit trying, I'm sorry to say.

BK fell out the window screen once, and that was IT! He'd rip out any screen in the house thereafter. He had plenty of time (while parents were at work) to think about it, work it out, plan his escape... I felt so helpless!

One possible thing, which hubby did in Happy's little room, is to put sturdy chicken wire outside of the screen. Even a determined cat can't break it.

I've had cats in the past, however, who would "rush" an open (to outdoors) door, and cripes, it was really tough!

My only solution was to put kittehs in a closed room when I opened the outside door... a pain, obviously, but it did work!

@ossobuco,
Sans cats? Er, isn't that a cat under the sheets?

@BorisKitten,
Same here. My kitchen windows and the screen door have been fortified with hardward cloth, which is heavier steel than chicken wire, and about 1/2 inch mesh. I think it's supposed to be used for reinforcing small concrete pours. It's fastened with heavy duty staples.

Now for a morning in the life of Mitsu.

While she's enjoying her salmon breakfast,

(salmon Fancy Feast is exclusively hers; the others are content
with seafood variations of Fancy Feast; mind you, all of them
sample from the others' dishes if they're unattended.)

the house V.A. draws .05 cc of Diltiazem transdermal gel for her
enlarged heart condition.

After some reassuring whispers in her ear and a warm
moist swabbing out of residue from the night before,
she then accepts this morning's dose.

Her attending orderly then leaves her with a treat.

Her next dose is due after her dinner, around 7 PM., when Nekochan
gets her second dose of insulin.

Yes, I hear you!

Vivienne and I have worked out stategies to handle Sophie under different circumstances. For example, coming in with groceries, answering the door to a knock, and even checking the mailbox, etc.

Now that we are super vilgilant, I think it'll be okay. We're still secretly hoping that Sophie's interest in going outdoors will lessen. We'll give it a go! Laughing

Yup! I'm becoming an expert at backing out an outside door! Laughing Laughing

My oldest daughter took the below shot with the camera in her phone the other day. I'm surprised it turned out as well as it did. You can get a better look at Sophie's markings and colouring.

Well thank to a small animals rescue group and a Pet Smart Store I had just watched the third of four kittens being taken to a new home in the arms of a young girl.

The mother cat who decided that my privative wall was a great place to locate her litter of Kittens and the rut of the litter that for a time I needed to hand feed for a few days is now going to be part of my family.

I had about given up on today showing of cats/dogs and had reached the conclusion that two kittens and the mother would only double my cats household population when the mother and girl shown up and claimed the third kitten.

Hope they all have good and long lives with their new human families.

Thanks Olga, Margo, and BK!

Indeed, the colouring is a bit different for us. We decided on something other than black and white.

You should see Sophie on our bed, haha! Laughing We've put her own blanket on it, and knows it's only hers now.

Nice relaxing shot of Mitsu, Neko! Wink
