@Izzie,
Quote:So.... plan is............. we're gonna clip their claws - got a handy gadget and will take the real needle sharp bits off (if they let us).
The only other thing I can think to do is get a water pistol and spray them when they start tumbling on the carpet - see if that may stop them - quick bolt of water - maybe... They really don't get nasty with each other - but do constantly play together - just haring round the house and.....tumbling, somersaults together.
They came from the Cats Protection League - rescue kitties - so they were both neutered then.....
Hi Iz
Good luck. I know all about the skittishness of pre-loved felines when it comes to these things (pills, nail cutting & vet visits) All my cats in the adult phase of my life (bar just one or two) have been of the pre-loved/dumped variety. There's no knowing what sorts of reactions might greet you when you attempt to perform one of those perfectly "normal" operations. I have to sneak up on Poppy when she's dozed off, to pop a pill ... catch her unawares. As for nail cutting, forget it! She imagines I'm going to
murder her, or something! Sigh. So I'm more than happy for the vet to do that now that I live in only a "two hands" home. Can't be done by one person & that's that. Just comes with the territory. But then, I adopted her at the (guessed) age of three ... she was a "street critter" before that. That said, she's a delight. She's very independent little tuxedo cat, not much of a lap-sitter (apart from in darkest winter, Ha! I can always tell, when I wake in the morning, when it's been an extra-cold night, as she sleeps on my bed then.). But she follows me everywhere. If I look around while I'm doing anything in the house or yard, generally she'll be there, too, paying great attention. When she wants a smoodge/attention/a pat, she DEMANDS it & dribbles
copiously in appreciation. She enjoys my company & I enjoy hers. And we're both perfectly happy with this state of affairs.
It sounds like Black Cat is a happy little creature (but then he & his brother have landed in Animal Heaven, so what's to be unhappy about?
) ... wounded eye & all! So (have I got this right?) the first eye is now OK & the injury to the 2nd eye is not as serious as the first. And is now healing. I hope the treatment on the 2nd eye was not quite as expensive (as for the first one), otherwise you might have to take out a 2nd mortgage or something!
Fingers crossed with the nail clipping & eye healing, Iz. Fingers extra tightly crossed that there are no more mishaps in the near future. You need a bit of a break from this!I'm sure your bank account does, too!
