So they lied about Afghanistan too.....!

US doesn't classify Taliban as terrorists, paper find

In the latest State Department report last Friday, one item went unnoticed by the press, until now: the US doesn't classify the Taliban as terrorists -- and haven't for the last six years. The find was made by CSMonitor.com's Tom Regan. The US does classify other groups on the US hit list as terrorists -- such as Hezbollah, al Qaeda and Hamas.

While the Taliban became mortal enemies of the United States in the wake of Sept. 11, the group was a Texas oil company favorite under the Texas gubernatorial administration of George W. Bush. A delegation visited Texas in 1997, in an effort to sign a deal for a 2 million British pound oil pipeline.

"In an article entitled 'Terrorism's Dubious "A" List,' the non-partisan Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) reports that the religious extremist organization has never been listed as a terrorist group by the US, Britain, the EU, Canada, Australia, or any of the coalition partners, despite the fact that during its six year rule in Afghanistan, it provided save haven for Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda, and currently is staging terrorist attacks against coalition forces and waging a national campaign of intimidation and fear," Regan notes

So what else is new? The bin Laden family got authority to fly out of the country on 9-11 when all flights were canceled. That message alone seems pretty clear where this administrations interests lie.

What's the lie, exactly? The United States invaded Afghanistan in retaliation for September 11. They were harboring Al Qaeda, who perpetrated 9/11, and refused the president's requests for extradition. Retaliation for the murder of thousands of one's citizens is unjustified in your mind?

Brandon, Your memory is short. Go back and find where Bush said his first priority was to find and kill Osama. Problem is, he changed his priority from Afghanistan to Iraq in short shreft, and Osama is still kicking around the mountains of Afghanistan-Pakistan. Your blurred vision will never improve.

I see no relationship between this post of yours and either the one I was replying to or my response to it.

However, since you choose to change the subject, my answer to your post is that sometimes people and nations are unlucky enough to have to do two different things at the same time, even when it puts a strain on resources. I note that you were unable to refrain from putting a personal reference to the poster in your answer.

I'm sure that the reasons we were targetted are a complex combination of factors. However, if you wish to present this statement as a lie, you are obligated to provide some evidence that it's a lie.

Brandon, You need to also read about the latest news about Afghanistan; this administration has been lying not only about the progress in Iraq but also in Afghanistan. Get up to speed on the news before you make yourself look more ignorant.

When you accuse someone of lying, you ought to give at least one example.

As for your characterization of me as ignorant, it's mere name calling, and does nothing to further your viewpoint. Someday, perhaps you'll be able to debate a topic in a dignified way without always relying on impugning the character of the poster.

9-11 was an inside job so spare us the crap about poor little ole bu$h requesting anything. All that garbage has been proven to be a lie, usually by bu$h himself. There was no Al Qaeda until bu$h came along.
Taliban yes. Al Qaeda no....

Bu$h murdered thousands of our citizens and more Iraqis than Saddam ever murdered. In the process he has killed, maimed or wounded thousands of U.S. soldiers

And you know that your old boy has been friends with the Bin Laden family for years. You can try to put lipstick on that pig anyway you want and it still comes out that bu$h is a lying, cheating murderer.

"The injustice done to the Palestinians, the cruelty of continued sanctions against Iraq, the presence of US troops in Saudi Arabia, the repressive and corrupt nature of US-backed Gulf governments"
~ Osama bin-laden

"Even small children know that Israel is nothing without America," says Atta. "And here America means F-16, M-16, Apache helicopters, the tools Israelis use to kill us and destroy our homes."

Who do you think is telling the truth, the terrorist [bin-laden] that attacked us or Bush ?

Thanks, maggs, for showing ignorant people what it's all about. Bush is a liar, murderer, who has infringed on our Constitutional and Bill of Rights, used religion for his politics, continually shows incompetence in whatever he touches, and people like Brandon thinks calling them ignorant is the main theme of our discussion. They can't see how stupid their support of Bush is.

According to almost all polls, past and present, it shows that 25 percent of Americans still support Bush. Brandon is one of them. They just refuse to realize that more people are waking up to the fact that Bush is dangerous and an incompetent fool.

You make a lot of accusations of lying, but never provide either an example or evidence.

As for the origin of Al Qaeda being during the Bush administration. From the Wikipedia article about Al Qaeda:

Quote:
On February 23, 1998, Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri of Egyptian Islamic Jihad issued a fatwa under the banner of the World Islamic Front for Jihad Against the Jews and Crusaders saying that "to kill Americans and their allies, civilians, and military is an individual duty of every Muslim who is able." Although neither man possessed the Islamic credentials, education or stature to issue a fatwa of any kind, this seems to have been overlooked in the enthusiasm of the moment. This was also the year of the first major attack reliably attributed to al-Qaeda

Now, if you are able to stick to one line of discussion, please either prove that someone told a deliberate untruth about Afghanistan related to terrorism, or refute with evidence the justness of our attack on the Taliban.

Brandon, Go back to when Valerie Plame was outed, what Bush said then and what he said subsequent to his original statement about people working in his administration, and what has been revealed since then up to the current information available. If you do that, and you still don't see Bush as a liar, I'll buy you a drink.

See! Sturgis is a good example of somebody that doesn't understand the difference between a personal sexual indesgression with a president that takes us to war on false justifications.

They've miised all that subsequent information on how Bushco planned the attack on Iraq months before 9-11 even happened - with Blair's blessings.

It's too spacial for them to tie all the stories together to make the whole.

I see you keep up with the name calling but haven't shown me your evidence.

Who is the whackadoodle here? Those that call names? or those that ask questions of the name callers?
