You are assuming that Obama and McCain are crossing the street and get run over by a cement truck?

I'm curious to see if/how the New Baptist Covenant will come into play.

There's been (proportionally) more coverage here of their recent get-together than there seems to have been in the American MSM . It's pretty clear the right-of-centre MSM in America is not going to like the New Baptist Covenant - but ignoring it doesn't seem like a brilliant plan.

That's a darned interesting question, beth.

You're quite right in saying it didn't get much coverage down here, due likely to the election trumping everything but the 'teenage sex godess in rehab' constant. But also, I think, because this group is seeking to forward a unity/inclusion understanding of christian/baptist faith and baptist organization unaligned with any political party or movement (Carter insisted at the outset that negative or dismissive comments about others wouldn't be part of the agenda) and that sort of approach does not lead to headlines. For headlines, the more likely source is the recent SBF version of carnivore christianity.

My guess is that this group/movement will grow in profile as it accomodates those baptists who are part of this broad cultural shift towards a more moderate and less hateful approach to community.

I've heard democrats say that they'll vote for McCain IF Obama wins the nomination.

I'm one of them.

No, you're not. Just saying that now b/c you're pissed off.

If you actually supported Hillary's policies, then it would indicate a 100% about-face on your part to do so.

Really, I just want Obamarama to stop. I'm sick and tired of Obamarama. If I have to hear about Obamarama through November I swear to someone's god that I'll vote McCain.

It'll infect you too, sooner or later.

Sooner or later,

You will be assimilated.

That was pretty funny, unlikely, but funny.

No vehicle or any other object is required to bump both of 'em.

Surprised Hillary will win the Democrat Party's so-called super delegates and thereby will win all the Florida and Michigan delegates for enough to surpass Obama.

Surprised McCain will decide he cannot win against Hillary without conservative support and give his delegates to Romney.

Surprised Romney with full conservative support will win a close electoral college vote over Hillary, and the Courts will deny her protests.

By the way, afterward, I'll win the lottery. Shocked

While I'm sure McCain and his campaign crew would love for the Roarers to just shut up (the hell with endorsing him), I don't think they are inflicting irreparable harm. Ditto-heads and the like might sit home if their heroes have not finally come around for McCain, but most Americans are just not following this stuff as closely as we are, and if there is anything that is sticking it's probably a positive impression. I doubt too many people who will seriously weigh McCain as a possible choice over either of the Democrats are going to turned off by the fact that the Roarers of The Right don't love McCain. More likely the opposite.

Why do you now commence to insult some of the largest and most informed talk show audiences in the country, Finn?

If you are a member of one or more of these audiences and feel insulted, I apologize.

By "Ditto-Heads" I didn't mean all any and all of the audience of these pundits, but I do mean the sycophants that call in to tell Rush or Sean that they are the greatest Americans in the world, and decide what to believe by listening to these shows and determining what Rush and Sean believe.

I don't have any more respect for someone who allows themselves to be totally enthralled by a radio personality, because the personalities are conservative. This is not to say I believe you to be a thrall of Limbaugh or Hannity. If I did I would not have apologized.

I agree with Limbaugh and Hannity on a lot of issues, but then I agree with a lot of conservatives on a lot of issues. The difference, for me, between them and a lot of other conservatives is that they are self-absorbed, and have a sense of self-importance that I do not find appealing. Perhaps this is simply part of on-air personaes that have proven successful for them, but their on-air personaes are the only Limbaugh and Hannity I know.

I find laughable the notion that many liberals love to float; that they're somehow dangerous saboteurs of American democracy. I don't take the notion that they are omniscient super patriots very seriously either.

If come November they are encouraging their listeners to sit home rather than vote for McCain I will be displeased. If their listeners sit home rather than voting for McCain I will be displeased. I doubt that will matter to Limbaugh, Hannity or their followers, nor do I see why it should, but I may want to pop off about it in this forum.

I'm very sad to report that tonight I've dropped the "Heaven, Me and Huckabee" banner to half mast. The fried squirrel sits on my plate, cold and untouched.

Only a misplaced Canadian would fry a squirrel anyway. They have to be stewed.

Hmmm. Huckabee must have started a new fad.

I think my grandmammy would turn over in her grave. She used to talk about the days when all the meat they had to eat was squirrel or rabbit that grandpappy could shoot, but spiced up in the stew pot with garden veggies and collard greens, it was quite good.

I took her word for it.

My one attempt to fry a rabbit (purchased at the grocery store) yielded a less than stellar repast, however, so I always assumed squirrel would fare no better. Live and learn though.

Do you think Hillary would eat fried squirrel?

It is with resounding joy and electrified excitement I bring this Michelle Malkin column to you...

Quote:
The most anti-conservative rhetoric against conservative talk radio these days is coming from supposedly free-market conservatives. It's disgusting.

Author Mark Helprin's grenade in the Wall Street Journal stands out. Yesterday, he launched an attack on conservative radio hosts who oppose presumptive GOP presidential nominee John McCain. Helprin sneered that their "major talent is that, like hairdressers, they can talk all day long to one client after another as they snip."...

Helprin accuses conservative talkers who oppose McCain of rooting for a liberal presidency because their "influence and coffers swell on discontent" and they are "nostalgic" for the Clinton years. Translation: They're all just greedy self-promoters who care more about themselves than the good of the country. Gramm leveled the same attack: "They're people who put their dogma in front of the interests of the country."

Cocooned conservative establishment snobs denigrate talk-radio hosts for preaching to the choir. But these same critics have no problem using the medium to market their own work. Ask their publicists. The message of the anti-conservative conservatives dissing talk radio: Self-interest for me, but not for thee.

No need to wait for a Clinton to take the White House. Clintonism is alive and well among conservative talk-radio haters on both sides of the aisle.
