Words are just words, and someones freedom to say them are in my opinion infinitely more important than any effect they may have.
Restricting freedom of speech in any way is a very slippery and treacherous slope.
back in '02 when men were cowboys and sheep were nervous. Hi Finn!
Offensive terms don't hold a candle to offensive sentiments like these:
I found this more offensive than anything else:

Hi Everyone!
How has God blessed me today? He sent me some real angels! Some know me from A2K, some don't. It's getting rough on that forum. The non-believers are really rebelling against God's word. I think those of you that post on A2K realize that.
I am asking if any of you do go to A2K and post in the Spirituality & Religion Forums, please DO NOT post in the threads that the atheists start that clearly are to mock the Lord! If we stay out of those threads, they will die from their own evil.
And those of you that do not post on Able2know.com, I encourage you to do so. We are in a spiritual war today. We need as many Christians as we can possibly get to stand united against the father of lies.
I want to see this site grow to be something so glorifying to God! We can all do that by finding others to come here. But, please, please, do not PM or directly ask anyone on A2K to join SpiritWarriors. That's against the TOS. I am in contact with a lot of the Christians there and I am telling them about this site to get them to come here.
We have to put forth our best Christlike armor we can my brothers and sisters in Christ. The Beast knows that his time is short and he grows angry.
I am so blessed to be able to be a part of this site and I am so sorry I have't been visiting much, but I definitely will be from now on!
Love in Christ,
Momma Angel thank you

That's not a very nice sentiment, is it? Did you use it intentionally?
Terms....true meaning....? I guess people have very different ideas of what is offensive.
I would be happy to do so. I scroll her, but I recognised that she'd quoted one of my posts and commented in a way that intentionally skewed what I'd said. Nobody here puts up with any such **** as that, nor will I. You wouldn't.
When she sticks her nose into my posts, she invites what follows.
Even with bias, you can surely understand that.
Intrepid,
It's ok. I have it memorized it's been put there so many times. I took great pains in explaining that situation to everyone and I'm not going to go through it again. If that is the strongest weapon someone has against me, it leaves not even a scratch. I explained what the Armor of God is. If certain people wish to hold it against me, that is certainly within their rights to do so. I told no lies in that post. I think that is what the crux of the problem is. I did not; however, condemn anyone to hell.
I will not post directly to certain people. I found that those two quotes (I posted from this thread) completely contradicted each other and I pointed it out. Since no ensuing explanation came of it, I have just accepted the statements as I read them.
I am responsible for my own actions, as each of us are. I have taken responsibility for what I did.

Censoring oneself in order to better communicate with others is not restricting free speech.
Is it also okay with you for someone to yell "fire" in a crowded theater? Is that just a word too?
Quoting her letter to another website:

I seem to remember her saying she hadn't told people to come here and buzz A2K with proselytizing....
Very good point, kickycan. I'm not so sure it's a matter of censoring anyone's speech, Doktor S. I think it's more a matter of courtesy, something along those lines.
I think that your post would have had much more effect without the first statement. Once I read the first statement, the second one didn't have the same impact.

Where do you draw the line? Do you say "you people"? Will you buy ANY new moratorium on any new term that comes down the pike? What f you don't think it's all that bad? How often will you get in line with some new censorship?
I'm really just curious about your answers. How far do you go?
Well, in general, Lash, my answer is to use some common sense.
Let's take the word "towelhead" for instance. If I used the word "towelhead" and others' reaction to it was negative, I might defend my usage of it. If it happened again, I might just go, "hey, people seem to be bothered by this, and it's sidetracking what I'm trying to get across. Maybe I won't use it anymore."
Just my opinion.
Although I have to admit, I really like the word, "pussified."
Hey Lash. does the term 'let it go' mean anything to you at all?

Don't concern yourself so much with me, snood.
Momma Angel
What I find offensive is being continuously inundated with your religious beliefs. I for one do not give a damn about your religion or your religious beliefs.
I read her posts, but don't feel "inundated". It just makes me feel sorry for anyone who feels they have to sell something that hard...
...and I do mean anyone selling anything.
I don't even go see movies that've been hyped in a certain glowing, skyhigh way.
au1929,
Then I suggest that you ask a certain person to stop posting what they have been posting over and over again. If you haven't noticed au1929, I have backed way off on posting about my beliefs on A2K. I haven't been starting threads in S&R like I used to and I haven't been really engaging in anything controversial like I used to be, etc. I have been visting many other forums on A2K and am enjoying not being so serious.
I'm just sayin......................
Snood,
USED to feel they had to sell something that hard. USED TO.
