sure they will. without a flash, clandestinely.

<asdosoidfhw!> i'm a little sloshed. we stayed waaay late after last rehearsal tonight and had a few beers. everybody's terribly excited about tomorrow's opening and we all hope it's gonna be a hit. It's also supposed to be a curse-breaking show, because so far none of shows or movies on Cleopatra were a hit. They were all flops. We shall see how it goes. Got to get some sleep. A teeny weenie bit of sleep.

Overture, curtains, lights,
This is it, the night of nights
No more rehearsing and nursing a part
We know every part by heart
Overture, curtains, lights
This is it, you'll hit the heights
And oh what heights we'll hit
On with the show this is it.

I actually went to see one of the musical theatre flops during its Boston
tryout back in '68. It was called "Her First Roman" and was based on
Shaw's "Caesar and Cleopatra." Richard Kiley was Caesar and and Leslie
Uggams was Cleopatra. It tanked on Broadway but I kinda liked it.

Now I'm gonna have to google around to find the lyrics to "I Fell in with
Evil Companions." Great song.

NO major gaffs, no flying hula hoops, no tripping and falling where it wasn't part of the script.

There were some sound issues. One mic wasn't working. Some parts of some sounds were muffled.

But, it was awsome. My cheeks hurt from smiling. My jaw ached from staying agape. It was good to Landry as a man, but we all like him best as a woman. Afrodite is ....is..... brilliant. So is the guy who plays Mark Anthony (we all love that guy). And of course there's landry and Olive A Nother and Landry's boyfriend (sorry I can't recall his name, but I LOVE him).

And, after the performance, I watched my old friends and my new friends dance together. It was wonderful.

One of only two photos worth posting. And barely at that.

awww, I bet it was brilliant. You still sound pretty wired up littlek. The picture is great, and I wish
I could see it too. Can't anyone make a tape for us?

More tired than wired. But a little of both.

I wonder if there will be a tape.

Hello good people. So it has been written, so it has been done. The premiere is over, and it went much smoother than it could have gone. Few garbled lines that audience cannot have noticed, but gave us giggles, the mic not working in one song (for one of three singers...but they managed). I got praises from the crew, which counts for an awful lot. i heard mark anthony (aka 'Missy') tell others that my number was very sexy. That tickled me pink, for even though gay, Mark is one hot man. He's the 'centurion' in those press photos a few pages ago.

Now I'm house sitting for littlek's sister. They were supposed to leave today, but all their suitcases are here...as are they. I hope nothing serious happened. Well, I'll find out in the morning. I forgot my cell phone at home, of course. So much for the 'mobile' phone.

From "Gold Dust Orphans" publicity:

Quote:

Dasha Kusa is one of the very few Slovak specimens in this vicinity. She grew up in the communist Czechoslovakia, in a family of a dissident writer and a family therapist. Hence she learned to smuggle books and offer unwanted relationship advice from young age. She changed hairstyles and hobbies often - from horseback riding, athletics, tap, modern and folk dance, through theatre, singing, boxing, skiing, to road biking, painting, guitar, piano. Got an MA in political science and decided to change the world through her work in a human rights group in native Bratislava. She changed her mind instead and came to Boston to get a doctorate. Now she works as a mediator in ethnic conflicts in unpronounceable places at the end of the world. To save her sanity, her roommate pushed her out the door to go audition for the Gold Dust Orphans, and…voilà. Life…is good!

I couldn't find reviews--Saturday is not a big publishing day for the underline press--but I noted this thread is one of the major Google sources for information on Cleopatra!
