Well, according to our standards I'm not - but regarding what our US friends call 'liberal' ... ...

Walter, everyone knows you are no liberal, Check the last item on the list. I think that describes you completely. Twisted Evil

I don't know if I am quite a "antichrist " or even "radical" and I admit I have been a little all over the board on this, but I supported the deal absent any other evidence to ties to terrorist.

Short answer: Schumer.

Long answer will have to wait until later tonight when I have more time.

This is demagoguery....

Quote:
Amongst the many failures of Democratic Presidents Carter and Clinton, I believe that history will judge most harshly their myopic sell-out of the Panama Canal to Pamana, and failing to thwart it's transfer once it was clear that the Chinese had managed to gain control of the ports on both oceans. The consequences of that will come down the road, but they will come. Assuredly, Islamists will not rest until they have identified and succeeded in exploiting the openings created by cavalierly permitting an Islamic country to gain control of our major ports, and history will hold the present administration responsible for such acts and the resultant tragedies.

I haven't seen anything close to this in Schumer's statements.

Yeah. Those demagogues! Hillary! And Schumer! And King, of cou.... no, wait, he's a Republican. We value his contribution. He has a right to voice his concerns. You wouldn't consider that demagoguery, huh!?

(Just an aside: hasn't the port deal already died? I've heard the Dubai firm has pulled out?)

Don't worry, it wasn't a GOP congressperson. I am saving those for later.

ebrown, I agree with your original opinion of this thread. The democrats have nothing better than to attack everything proposed by Bush/republicans. They should get a life.

I've given up on both the republicans and democrats; they're destroying this country.

It's what happens when a political party rests it's power on images instead of reality. The present day Republican Party, a pale imitation of it's former self, relies on image and marketing rather than substance to win elections, Family Values -Guns, Gays and God. No one should be surprised when image, (an Arab Company !?!) surpasses substance (it's just a business.) and causes a conflict amongst it's followers. They've been taught to kneejerk and kneejerk they will.

I'm sure there is a psychiatric term for conflict between pre-conceived notions and reality, though it's usually individuals who suffer from it and not whole political parties.

Note: George Bush approval rating is at 37 per cent today.

The GOP has been caught in it's own bizarroworld. Had they been using a little nuance now and again instead of their good/bad with us/against us up/down in/out philosophy, they might have had a chance to save this deal. Instead they have to cave in to the images they created and projected onto their followers. The Democrats, masters of restraint in this issue (heh, heh, heh), have let the GOP politicians puncture this deal in the face of Bush's threatened veto. Talk about a slap in the face for George. It's a win/win for the Democrats. Thanks Pete.

What nonsense.

A plague on both their houses.

The more appropriate question, it seems to me, is: Blueflame, do you have an opinion on any of these issues or have you succumbed to the addiction of cut & paste?

You can save the demagoguery of Joe Sixpack for later too, as far as I'm concerned.

cjhsa, my distress signal avatar is a warning that more Amerricans relate to every day. You are in an ever shrinking minority of Americans. I'm one of the 70% of Americans who say the country is moving in the wrong direction. I'm with the majority of Americans who believe Bushie deliberately lied us into war. That's the highest crime known to man and people did not come to that conclusion recklessly. It certainly is reason enough to fly the flag upside down as a warning signal. I'm grateul so many Americans now heed the warning.

"America is moving in the wrong direction!"

Blueflame sees this as proof that the majority of America thinks like him; so do most Liberals.

Unfortunately for those who hope to see a leftist trend in this poll, there is a sizeable number of responders who believe that America is moving in the wrong direction ---To The Left!

This is the most misused polling number there is, and only a willful ignorance cannot see why this is the case.

"Liberalism" from my understanding of the vernacular is supposed to represent "equality" of treatment for all. They (democrats) have the audacity to criticize Bushco for his treatment of Arab-Americans, then turn around and cry "foul" when Bush tries to provide equal treatment to Arabs in the UAE to excercise the free market purchase of some ports. I see a whole lot of hypocrits.

What''s the difference between the Arabs of the UAE and the US?

Not at all. I am just enjoying those that cried '9/11' reaping what they have sown.

What they have sowed: Democrats jumping on an anti-Arab bandwagon for political purposes?

What does crying 9/11 mean?

9/11 didn't happen?

9/11 was not as bad as Republicans say it was?

9/11 should not alter our foreign policy?

This is the utter hypocrisy of the Left:

"We have been saying for years that the Right has fear mongered based on 9/11, and so now that we are doing the same, it's the fault of the Right."

What an utter crock.

He seems fine to me. Someone might want to save the previous two posts for good measure. Dys, do you have a choice of assisted living programs? You might want to make it public.
