I'm very suspicious that alcohol was involved in the Cheney shooting. We already know he admitted to having a beer for lunch. But the give away is that the ranch owner stated Cheney mixed himself a cocktail when he returned to the house.
A lawyer will advise his client to take an alcoholic drink in a public place before witnesses following a DUI incident. That way, the drink can be blamed for any high alcohol blood count.
In this case, the Sheriff didn't arrive until the next day and never took a blood alcohol test.
Ergo, Cheney was covered in case the proper timely blood test had been taken as required by law.
