That cinches it. The generals and other high ranking officers who report that things are bad are out to lunch. Thank god for Foxy's nephew. Who would have ever known?

Really? Do you have a nephew freshly back from Iraq who sees it differently?

To Walter: My Nephew has easy access to the Albuquerque Journal too, which is one of the reasons he is as disgusted with the media as he is.

(I check in now and then to see if the trolls have gotten tired of spamming this thread. So far, no, they haven't.)

Obviously you are referring to us as trolls, but I posted that report because those journalists are giving their viewpoints there.

Walter, obviously you did not read what I posted. Trolls are people who spam a thread with material unrelated to the thread or for the purpose of disrupting a thread or just stirring up trouble. They have no interest in discussing the thesis of the thread, either pro or con. Now if you think that applies to you, please stop doing that. If that does not apply to you then my comment was not directed at you.

The is a Bush supporters thread. Any who just wish to bash the President have dozens and dozens of other threads to post their hate posts in. That they choose to do that here makes them trolls by definition.

What's truly amazing, Foxy, is how easily you embrace anecdotal evidence yet all the while you studiously ignore the facts. Is this delusion typical of your whole life?

The last refuge for those who know but just aren't honest enough to admit that they have no logical or sane defence for their continued "support".

Foxfyre, the trolls have no sense of decorum and addressing them does nothing to deter their trolling. They are full of **** and have no sense about them. They like to be disruprive and, like monkeys, they like to fling their stools on the walls so they can point out to the other monkeys where they have been.

Anecdotal evidence can be interesting to some who don't view the world through pure venon. The anecdotal evidence I cited, however, reinforces the MANY facts I have posted over the many many months that this thread has been running. So please speciify which facts I have ignored. I trust you will review all my posts before compiling your list.

Wrong. It was intended to be one place where people who don't see the President and/or the GOP as the devil incarnate could discuss the pros and cons of the various issues and events without distraction from people who want to do nothing but spread more mean-spirited and hateful venon. (I.E. trolls). I really don't expect the true trolls to have the intelligence to understand that however.

Of course it does. That's why you posted it, or perhaps, made it up.

I know, but every now and then I show my weakness in an urge to give somebody the benefit of the doubt. I usually am disappointed, but I hold out ever hope that I've misjudged somebody. I thnk those who have absolutely nothing good to say about the President and/or the GOP and/or the current administration would show much better manners by posting on their own "I hate Bush" threads.

Do you make up the stuff you post? That's the only reason I can think of that would prompt your accusing somebody else of that.

Haha, well, the fact is, you don't have any way of telling, do you? Just like we don't have any way of telling whether or not you actually have a relative who is back from Iraq.

That's why anecdotal evidence is, yeah, useless on the internet for anything other than entertainment.

It doesn't reinforce anything at all, whenever anyone does it, and you shouldn't feel as if it does.

Walter is not a troll, IMO.

You did, however, feed a troll just now, who does not deserve the benefit of the doubt, and as McG says, he has no manners. His purpose in coming here is simply to fling his poo.

Responding to him is like negotiating with terrorists ... it should never be done.

I agree. Walter is not a troll though he can sure twist things so he can take offense. As to the others, sometimes if you give them something to keep them busy, they at least slow down on the spam.

I still wish we could have just one thread where we could actually discuss stuff without the 'gotcha' trolls lurking just waiting to pounce.

What reinforces my own opinion is none of your business and I have every bit as much right to state that as you do to state your own opinion about anything. And I doubt you appreciate being accused of "making things up' anymore than anybody else does. I will remind you of

Cyclops Post 1311579 in which he said
Quote:
My above statement is presented as opinion. You are free to disagree with it; if I wanted to state it as a categorical fact, I would have provided supporting evidence, which I didn't care to do.

Now how does one disagree intelligently with something of which one has no knowledge whatsoever? I know my nephew. You don't.

But, you didn't claim that the anecdotal evidence reinforces your 'opinion.' You stated that it reinforces your facts:

And that's my point: it may reinforce your opinion, but it doesn't reinforce any of the facts that you presented, at all.

If you had said that the anecdotal evidence reinforced your opinion then I wouldn't have said anything at all, because you are correct in stating that you have the right to not only hold any opinion you wish, but display any opinion you wish.

Note that this is an attempt on my part to not bring personal matters into a point of correction....

I will give you the same challenge as I gave JTT. Go through all my posts on this thread that related to the point I made using my nephew as an illustration and get back to me on that. Or if you don't care to go to all that trouble, you can trust that the sentiment I expressed using the illutration of my nephew is consistent with what I have posted all along including a LOT of supporting stuff that I posted as facts.

Now you are free to disagree with those facts all you wish. You cannot intelligently disagree with my illustration to reinforce them as you have no personal knowledge of that and no means of checking the accuracy of that.

And to attempt to do so looks suspiciously like trolling.

So anyway Walter, Ossobuco is coming over for dinner tonight, we will have a light meal of crab/corn chowder and some wonderful Italian bread. That's it along with some pleasant conversation. Ann, the teacher who lives next door, is going up to her cabin in Taos for the weekend holiday so we are tending to her new kitties. What about your weekend plans?
