Reyn - thanks. I took a whole series of those mushrooms. I played abit with the color on a few to try and pop the blue and green contours.

It's a nice pattern, too. I wasn't sure if this occurred naturally or that you played with the pic with photo-editing software.

Just played with the color, and I'm not sure I even played with that particular picture's color.

LK, I like this one even more, because of its composition.
Really good stuff. I hope you enjoy doing it, so that you'll continue.

JL - I like it better too, but it's not 'abstract' enough for this thread.

Remember LK, that any picture is ultimately abstract. Just turn it upside down to enjoy its abstract characteristics. When I turn your picture upside down it's just as abstract as rightside up, making it very abstract.

MMmm. Hmmmm. I just don't really get the full concept of abstract photography.

To me, subjectively speaking, abstract photography should try to do what abstract painting does, i.e., to show the beauty in nature, the beauty which exists as form apart from content. It's not what the photography is "of", it's the image of beauty. Someone once said that abstract art does not REPRESENT the beauty of things; it PRESENTS beauty. One would think that that is easier for painting than for photography. But artistic photographers are able, as you, Phoenix and others have done here, to compose your photos of "things" in nature so that all we see is their beauty, without being aware of what it is that is beautiful--like the surface of Phoenix' apple pie. I did not need to know that in order to enjoy the aesthetic value.

Dag, I've seen your pic (snow covered tree with the eyes and colours).

Interesting, although I'm not sure it could be called abstract.

I don't think you can hotlink from that page (at least for any length of time). You may have to host it somewhere else.

@dagmaraka, second post is ok(I mean I see the picture now Smile )

I think it belongs to abstract.

At first, I wanted to say that I don't like it... But now I find it interesting... These colored parts are the bad part thou... Yes, they give the "face thing" along with eyes, but the idea could have been used with better effects...

Keep working.

How do you like my photos posted throughout this thread?

hmmm. i started with coloring. and i like it. different folks, different tastes. i had more troubles with the eyes and if and where to put them. they ended up looking like eyes on two forks, which i liked enough. anything on a fork is a good thing.

i really liked the chillis on strings, haven't looked back enough to see others in detail and now have to run again. back later.

And to continue the "abstract photography" topic... I'd define it as :

beauty that stands in front of an eye and waits for that very saim eye to see it in it's own way.

Like the definition JL ?
