I assure you, Steven, that the Bush administration is very unlikely to be planning a coup d'etat. Calm yourself. Don't get worked up over what is almost certainly nothing.

Well you said "there is nothing so amusing in a political context as paranoid self-delusion,"

I agreed using this thread as an example.

I must add that I find your haughtinees equally as amusing though. Nothing like the anonymous arrogance you possess to brighten my day. I suspect you are like that in real life too though. Which saddens me.

that Brandon - never listens, unless it's to screaming while heads are being sawed off <sigh>

You are certainly correct that I do not listen to someone whining for me to leave a debate because he goes all to pieces when his posts are questioned.

As for my concern over innocent noncombatants being taken hostage, and decapitated in the most painful manner imaginable, yes I am sad and angry about it, which I consider to be a more reasonable reaction than indifference or using it as material for jokes.

Brandon - you've never made anyone go to pieces with your posts.
Trust me.
However, you have caused innumerable fits of giggles in my home alone.

You do not, of course, know anything about me, least of all that there is any basis for your snotty accusations. Your mealy mouthed, and probably lying, hypocricy is noted, however.

As I might expect - name calling without a single argument to support your position.

Brandon, my position, in this thread, is that you're funny.
That's all.

I come here to be entertained.

I get what I come for - and what I pay for.

Worth the subscription fee Cool

Your obsession with arguments in support of positions is hilarious. Precisely who do you think is better qualified to comment on fits of giggles in her home?

You sink further into your delusions before our very eyes.

By the way, there was no "name-calling" in that post.

Someone has a hunch - and people want links.

Definitely worth the subscription fee.

Kinda like asking someone to prove why they have faith. Yup, here's God's fingerprint - right here - on my forehead. No, it's not a smudge.

You are the experts on what happens in your home, but the post contained the implicit assertion that the humor was caused by some defect in my posts, and that does require an argument to support it. For the most part, the A2K liberals prefer to argue by sniping comments, devoid of any real argument or evidence, which is certainly a measure of the weakness of their case. My "obsession" with support for arguments here is what most people would call the standard view of debating.

Mostly, its the obsession with heads being sawed off while victims scream from which the hilarity ensues. It is not necessary to prove anything to have taken note of your hysteria over that topic.

Are you on an irony-free diet?

Most people would not consider that any proof were needed for someone to assert that they have a hunch. When someone tells me they have a hunch, i take them at their word.

Your conceit is both amusing, and pathetic.

I said that I realized he was only posting a hunch, but asked him if he had anything at all to support it. This is a reasonable question. Posting a hunch that the president of the US is planning a coup d'etat, with no evidence at all is typical of the quality of accusations against the president made here, and I wanted to draw attention to that. The typical sort of besmirching of Bush's character that goes on in this forum is ridiculous and ought not to go unchallenged.

I should congratulate you. The quality of your debating has improved quite a bit over the past year or two. Just try not to get so defensive when you lose an argument. This is one of your great weaknesses, Steven. I'm sure that someday you'll be giving me a run for my money in here.

It's a laugh riot, Bear . . .

My name is not Steven, and there was no debate taking place to have been won or lost--but i learned long ago, B9000, that you are incapable of seeing anything beyond the boundaries of your tortured and haunted fantasy world.
