I will stand by this one. God is the Law. That's not any more supernatural than the Law of Nature. Things work according to natural law=Things work according to God's Will.

So, in your model 'god' doesn't eally fill any role, and is just another name for 'nature'..which begs the question..why include god at all where he is not needed?
Unless of course you are a pantheist.?

First off, I don't consider God to be any gender.
Second...Why use the word "nature", then, if everything is natural? (Not a real question, just trying to make a point.) I use the word "God" because it is more fitting in certain instances, and because it is a pretty popular concept. I also grew up with the word (albeit with a different meaning), so rather than abandoning it I prefer to understand it differently.
But I am not stuck on the word "God", and if I'm talking to someone who doesn't want to use it, that is fine with me.

When will your conscience tell you something that contradicts the Holy Spirit. To clarify, I do not mean "morals" when I use the word "conscience". Obviously morality is applied by some social structure and is not innate to humans. "Conscience", on the other hand, is innate; it is God-given. Whether we choose to pay attention is up to us.

I don't know how you can separate conscience from morals. Sorry, you are losing me here.

Where am I losing you.

Okay, my conscience is guided by my moral beliefs. My moral beliefs are guided by God.

And, how would you account for those that have no conscience? If the conscience were the Holy Spirit and innate, what about them?

Ok, well, guess you figured I'm female, huh?

So your conscience is guided by God. Will you explain how that happens? I don't understand what you mean.

I do not believe that there is anyone who does not have a conscience. There are those who are very good at ignoring their conscience; those people have an illness.

No, my moral beliefs are guided by God. My conscience is guided by my moral beliefs. But, I guess it's the same thing.

Well, I tend to agee with you that they have an illness.

So, if someone doesn't believe in God, where do you think their moral beliefs come from?

I guess we can pick up morals from just about anywhere. In general, they are handed to us by society.
So (not to hound you or anything, but...), how are your moral beliefs guided by God?

That's an easy one. If God says it's right, then it is right. If God says it's wrong, then it's wrong.

My moral beliefs, BTW, are guided by my conscience, which (I believe) is informed by God, as is everyone's. (Holy Spirit) [just to reiterate]

Do you mean what God says in the Bible? Or is it more like a silient voice in your mind? Something like a feeling?

Well, aren't we basically saying the same thing then?

Yes, what God says in the Bible. He does tend to remind me with a tap on the shoulder every now and then if I start to veer from the path.

I wish that we were, but I don't think we are, exactly.
Your position is that God guides your morals which guide your conscience. (right?)

My position is that God guides my conscience which guides my morals.

Don't you think that that's the Holy Spirit doing the tapping?
And would you not be comfortable also calling that your conscience?

Yes, definitely the Holy Spirit tapping. Would I be comfortable calling that my conscience? Hmmm. Well, on one hand yes and on the other no.

Anytime I start thinking that I am the one that makes the decisions for my life, I get in trouble. Nine out of ten times, what I want to do is not what God wants me to do.

But, if I believe the Holy Spirit guides my conscience then yes, I can agree with that.

Okay, I am tired. What the heck did I just say? I know, I agree with you on this pretty much.

This is exactly what I believe to be true, and I have yet to find Biblical evidence to discredit it (which is pretty amazing considering that people find passages to support or discredit all kinds of stuff).
I don't think that my conscience is "me" making the decision. For instance, if I make a decision that goes against my conscience, I will pay for it with guilt or some such feeling. I don't control my conscience...No one does and no one can. We can only try to deny it.
