In fact, i'm surprised that you are not asking such a question of Intrepid, whose statement was a good deal more amporphous in its reference than was mine.

My question was not amporphous (sic). In fact, I did not consider it amorphous either. Should I have not asked how your day was?

"christians here"

hmmmmmm. I think you own that one, Setanta. At least in this case.

Then Intrepid must own this one--which is a good deal more amorphous than my statement.

Intrepid, i referred to your statment, which i have quoted above, i did not refer to any question you asked.

Thank you for pointing that out, Setanta. Sometimes I can get so confused. Since I am still in a state of confusion, perhaps you could point out exactly how that statement is amorphous. I would certainly appreciate it. Thank You.

Certainly, Bubba--you refer to deception, having welcomed a new member. Given that you do not specify a source, the implication is that deception is a sort of ubiquitous pitfall at this site, and may come from any direction. I was merely trying to be helpful--to focus on a known source of deception . . .

Thank you for responding so quickly, Setanta. Just one thing, I was not sure if you were addressing this to me because you had written the name of someone named Bubba. Sorry, but I am not aquainted with this person.

Anyhow, on to the topic at hand. I thought that the source of my remark was quite clear. At least, it may have been to others. It was in reference to Edgar's post about being a Christian. It is well know his stance on Christianity and I did not want the newbie (Wanda) to be deceived by this.

Surprised

You couldn't have been less clear if you'd wrapped yourself in gauze, Intrepid.

Well, Intrepid, as this is the thread in which MOAN has invited us all to "duke it out," i thought it only fair to point out another well-known source of deception in these fora--all in the spirit of the thread, you see.

Among people who are native to or long lived in the American South, the appelation Bubba is one of casual affection or of derision, depending on context. Take your pick.

Which is why I find Setanta's amorphous clumping of christians so annoying.

Well, not just Setanta. I find it annoying when anyone says 'any identifiable group of people here'. Women here, Christians here, Canadians here, round people here, dog-loving people here - we are all different.

<probably the greatest similarities in those particular examples are among the dog-lovers>

I think I've been guilty of the clumping at times, but I'm on the alert for it - especially in my own posts.

It is well for you to point out those things that need to be pointed out in such a pointed manner. However, I would appreciate seeing specific forms of deceiption to which you refer. All in the spirit of the thread, of course.

You may find this hard to believe, Setanta, but I am not a native of the American south. Or of America, for that matter. I am unfamiliar with your specific terms of affection, but I thank you for it. Embarrassed

Wouldn't that make me a mummy? I would have preferred cellophane, but we takes what we gets. Smile

Thank you for pointing out my spelling mistake, or what is commonly referred to as a typo. The word that was meant to show on your screen was deception. I can see how the addition of the extra i could confuse someone. Cool

Mr. Setanta,

Oh, how wonderful it is that you are engaging in conversation with all of us in this thread; Christians and non-Christians alike! http://web4.ehost-services.com/el2ton1/gathering.gif

Intrepid, yes, I, too, that Edgar had become a Christian! I actually leaped with joy at this! http://web4.ehost-services.com/el2ton1/specool.gif

Ehbeth is so right. We must all be careful to lump everyone into any specific category. We are all, afterall, different creatures with different beliefs, thoughts, mindsets, etc. I think ehBeth stated that very well as a matter of fact. Cool

Oh Mr. Setanta, I think if you ask Intrepid, he would be happy to clear up any confusion you may have about that deception statement! I find Intrepid very cooperative in explaining things I don't understand!

So happy you are here! I just can't tell you how much!http://web4.ehost-services.com/el2ton1/heart.gif

Momma,
How is your 12 step emoticon program coming under the guidance of Setanta? It seems that you may be sliding a bit. :-)

I am revolted by and protest the notion that i would touch MOAN with a ten foot pole, let alone provide her any sort of guidance . . .
