Sigh, I regret the angry post already. But shouldn't edit it, instead I'll counter-post:
I happen to agree, to a far lesser extent, with most of your stereotypes. Latin football culture tends to frown less on diving and other underhanded acts than some other football cultures IMO. What I thought untoward was what I considered unsportsmanship vitrol about unsportsmanship that was not unique to those being criticized.
Thing is, if I disregard your complaint that I didn't criticize similar positions then I'm being hypocritical. I hadn't seen more than one or two of the posts you quoted, but in turn I can't complain if I'm ascribing bias to you for so passionately criticizing the Portuguese sportsmanship and not, say, the Dutch (who I thought deserved some in their game with Portugal).
I can't also continue to defend overstated criticizm of you for what I merely consider overstatements on your part either, so I apologize for getting to you on this and would like to admit to what I consider an unreasonable degree of harshness to my criticism.
<shrugs> I'm going to go retreat to my more peaceful conversation with political opposites on a mid-east conflict thread.
