You should take that accusation very seriously, Nimh as I feel it!

I'm not speaking about the techniques of football but the racism you displayed in bashing some Latin countries.

As I told you, but I have the experience of previous posts which you never read right, I'll quote you some day. My schedule is not yours and you use it to place your arguments.

It's over! This time you'll not use time to place your outdated rhetorics.

Try more sophisticated techniques!

Whinner!

I'd love to see a quote of me doing that, yes.

Bashing a football team Not Equal bashing a country.

OK, gotta go - (German) movie to see at 8.

It very much surprises me to say this, CJ, but I really do hope that the German team go on to win.
England, on the whole, was embarrassed by the naive, "one trick pony" tactics that Sven Boring Eriksson imposed, during this world cup.
I am glad that he's gone (with his sack of cash over his shoulder) but fear that McClaren will be no better.

The players are used to playing a 4-4-2 day in, day out in the English Premiership. Why Sven chose to go with the isolated lone striker and get everyone to kick long balls to him throughout virtually every game, no bugger knows!

Germany have played good, solid and entertaining football throughout this tournament, and it is fantastic for their people, when the host nation wins.

I wish them good fortune, competent refereeing and plenty of goals from Klose, who just happens to be in my fantasy football top five (other thread).

GO GERMANY!

Won't be that easy if we loose Frings - which might happen since he might get a red card since Italian tv-pictures prove a foul by him against Julio Cruz, after the match, during those chaos scenes ...

You'll still have "our" boy Jens! Very Happy

I'll be cheering on France and Germany until...they meet each other...then (sorry Walter) it's France, with Thierry and our former favourite, Patrick.

I'm also 1/8 French so I have a "reason" - though I know Germany and German better!

Francis/Nimh - what's going on? I like you both and this seems crazy! Confused

But only, because we trained him so well at Schalke!

Bonsoir, Pierre de la Cuisine!

I'm just fed up with people always using the old saying "the absents are always in the wrong". So, I'm showing I'm present.

But it's over, (till Nimh come back).

Btw, Lehmann is the best!

No, for Mrs. Walter's favourite team (like the other half of Westphalians), in a place, about 20 miles east of Schalke.

[Ready for an old joke? Okay then...]

Q: Who is the most unpopular man in football?

A: He's the fan in the stand at Borussia Muenchengladbach who stands up and shouts

"Gimme a B...."

Agreed but- football is a simple game which is IMO over-complicated by no doubt well-meaning theorists and over-qualified coaches and pundits.

There is no reason why Steve McLaren can't be as successful as, say, Brian Clough...although he would have to learn to be a bit more outspoken.

Thinks....do all successful football managers have to be a bit mad? (Thinking of Scolari, Mourinho, Martin O'Neill, Clough...)

Great spirits coming from you, Spanky Smile
I favor Klose as well, he is one of the fairest players in all of football,
plus I love his little acrobatic salto numbers.

First they need to prove the authenticity of those pictures, and in
the wake of the Italian football corruption scandal, the Italiens shouldn't
point fingers to anyone but themselves.

Its a good thing the Dutch arent betting people much...

according to the last poll that was out, this was who the Dutch thought was going to win the World Cup:

34% Brazil
33% Argentina
20% Germany
4% Italy
3% France
0% England
0% Portugal

The same poll also, after each match, asked respondents to give "grades", 10 being the best grade, and 1 the worst.

They gave the Dutch team a 6,8 (for the game against Serbia), 6,4 (against Ivory Coast), 6,8 (against Argentina), and 5,8 (against Portugal).

They gave the opposing team a 5,8 (Serbia), 6,6 (Ivory Coast), 7,0 (Argentina), and 5,0 (Portugal).

The respective referees got 7,0 (in the game against Serbia), 6,3 (against Ivory Coast), 5,7 (against Argentina), and 3,1 (against Portugal).

Keeper Van der Sar was by far the most appreciated Dutch player.
