I read somewhere in the net that United States have spent some million $$$ for programme to develop their football. Is that right?

Absolutely no anti Indian prejudice? You mean that there's no people calling anyone brown-skinned "Paki" anymore? Or more like, if they knew someone were Indian and not Pakistani, they wouldnt act with prejudice?

<sceptical>

Steve mentions Indians specifically nimh, and I tend to agree with him, at least in my neck of the woods. Indians are regarded as gentle, hard working people on the whole, who want the best for their kids and do their utmost to see that they are brought up to be polite and well educated.
I've just had Indian neighbours move in two doors down from me, and there have already been eight or nine of us in the road that have knocked on their door and introduced themselves, and ...well, basically welcoming them to the neighbourhood.

Indians, IMO, behave more like the English than some of us English! I was genuinely pleased to see that it was an Indian family that had moved in.

I can't speak for the rest of the country though, but my general feeling would be that unless they moved in to a really deprived inner city area, they would be welcome.

As far as the Scots are concerned, however, I am as perplexed as Steve.

Why?

It is as if they have a massive chip on their shoulders, and it has been double deep fried, like their food.

The USA seems to be plagued by drawing lousy refs this year.

Red cards for late tackles are ridiculous. Penalty kicks should never be questionable. Was it a real foul or not? (I'm cannot watch)

If not, the ref should be shagged by a horse.

Yeah, the ref gave Ghana the win, but Ghana were going anyway, even with a tie. I mean a draw.

((((((((((Freeduck)))))))))

Don't desert us now, will you.

Your team did a hell of a lot better than I thought they'd do!

Your lot showed grit and determination in their last two games, and if you managed to get a couple of top class strikers into the squad, you will do much better next time.

Well done, USA.

I second the praise being given to Freeduck in particular. Your soccer commentary is great. Thank you for all the info you have posted.

Maybe that didn't read right, but I think you know what I meant. Refs shouldn't be making ticky-tack calls in the penalty area.

As a ref, you can choose to do nothing, and simply restart the game when you inadvertantly blew the whistle. These refs seem to be going to the shirt pocket immediately after the whistle.

One thing that I think really hurts the game are the flops and drama queens. It's particularly noticable in the latin players. Man can they ever whine.

Thank you, Lord E. I think the best thing to happen for us was to lose some of our starters. Reyna has way more clout than he deserves while Dempsey gets no credit but is one of our best players. What we need now, for the next world cup, is a Dutch coach.

Oh and thanks for that, wandeljw. I'm not going anywhere -- this is going to be a very exciting cup! And besides, I got may wish. An African team got out of the first round! I just didn't think it'd be at our expense. But I guess I have to root for them now.

I am glad you still have a team to root for, Freeduck. I guess I will now be rooting for Deutschland (I was born there). If Germany wins and nimh gets irritated, it will all be worth it! Smile

I hope this.. .'we need a dutch coach for our team' doesn't spread too much. Otherwise, we get about 50 dutch delegates to the next World Championships : 11 rookies out on the filed playing, some referees perhaps, some medics and some reserve players, and 20 coaches, all our former soccer team players.

There's a Swedish coach going free after the tournament. You're welcome to him!

His name is Sven Boring Eriksson.
