Rooney's starting tonight. Gerard "rested".

Owen and Rooney up front....I just have a feeling about the team and their style of play tonight.

I'm going to stick my neck out on this one.

PREDICTION.

ENGLAND 3 - 1 SWEDEN

Iwas going to say 4 - 1, but I wanted to stay realistic.

INGER - LUND!

Brilliant goal by the wonderful Joe Cole!

Michael Owen fell badly in the fourth minute, having to leave the pitch due to a knee/ligament injury. Replaced by the Giraffe, Peter Crouch.

England lead 1 - 0 at half time.

They're starting to warm up now, and with any luck, Sven will "blood" Walcott in the second half, or bring Lennon onto the wing.....or BOTH!

Then you'll see some sparks fly!!

Still stick with my 3 - 1 prediction.

Yes, a terrific strike by Cole. Sweden aren't at the races at all. Looks like Owen's World Cup could be over. He actually went down in the first minute.

Saw a picture of Crouch's girlfriend somewhere. Must dig it out...

Owen's injury looks bad. In a slow motion replay, you could see his kneecap pop out of place. He won't play any more in this tournament.

Joe Cole's goal, was not only the goal of the tournament so far, IMO, but it was also the 1999th goal in the history of the World Cup. Who will score the 2000th, I wonder?

As long as it isn't a Swede, I don't mind.

Rooney is not match fit by any means, but he still plays bloody well.

I think he'll get the 2000th, myself.

Rooney does look likely to score. My money's on Lampard though - goodness knows, he's due one!

I don't know what you're worrying about, Walter. We won't have anyone left who isn't injured!

Rio Ferdinand off with injury now....and Sweden have equalised.

I reckon Sven will replace Rooney with Walcott in the 70th minute, or thereabouts. 63 minutes played so far.

I don't think we stand much chance now in this tournament, what with the injuries.

Oh Well! There's always 2010.

Now I remember: your 3:1 was the result from 1968 - the last time, England won against Sweden ... hoping instantly that at least a draw ...

(They should, perhaps, have made some fitness training, I think.)

Never shouted so often "ENGLAND, ENGLAND ..."

.... and there it is

BREAKING NEWS.......

The English Football Association have confirmed tonight, that Sven Boring Eriksson will still be the england coach after the tournament.

Apparently they are taking his teeth out, and putting seats in.
