HARD-nosed bosses are under pressure to ease off workers as World Cup madness hits fever pitch this weekend.

Tens of thousands of fans are expected to party well into early Monday morning as the Socceroos take on Brazil, raising concerns about what happens the next day at work.

Workplace experts have predicted up to 20 per cent of employees will struggle to make it to work after each Socceroos match, costing businesses up to $250 million a game.

this is no place for your violent racist diatribes brahmin leave it. Or better still try to get a team together that qualifies for the world cup.

Now brazil against Aus. 2 mins played.

Will Brazil do better than Argentina? They should.

you know comming as you do from the land of slave traders, genociders, scavegers, combat 18, churchill, thacher, BNP and other confirmed racists, you shouldnt even use the word on others. but then spinelessness runs in your genes. cant blame you.

we dont have a good football team - hence we support other teams which really play good fotball. so it is that all of india supports either of brazil (esp older generation which has seen pele and co), or argentina (younger ones - those who grew up to the hand of god), or holland (total footy) or italy (defence redifined). we have no love lost for the pom soccer team and there lacklusture stolidass long ball football.

It have been heard that India was banned from WC 2002 because some players wanted to play without shoes. Was that true or just a rumor?

Okay, either we discuss football or behave like hooligans.

If the latter, I'm out here.

Australians all let us rejoice
For we are young and free
We've golden soil and wealth for toil,
Our home is girt by sea:
Our land abounds in nature's gifts
Of beauty rich and rare,
In history's page let every stage
Advance Australia fair,
In joyful strains then let us sing
Advance Australia fair.

come on ausie

0:0 at halftime. I'd settle for another 45 min with no goals.

Nope it was some World Cup in 1950s. We qualified, but the team's plea to play barefeet on the field was rejected. So, our team backed out of the tournament. It was not a ban.

I'd really liked (and waited for) the 1:1 Sad

Nevertheless: very good played, Australia!

Congratulations to Australia.

Even if the playing quality of the modern world cups is not like the older ones, the fact that the World cup is becoming more and more irresolute is something very positive.

I'm guessing France is winning - they were loudly singing the Marseillaise outside (in the tent with the big screen) fifteen minutes or so ago... ;-)
