Cicerone Imposter wondered:
How long does it take for god to prepare "father's house?" He created heaven and earth in six days! Something is drastically wrong here[

Don't try to read the bible literally mate, because much of it is metaphor and parable etc and our human minds can't grasp it. For example Einstein proved time is stretchy and elastic, and the bible backs him up-
"With God a thousand years are as one day" (2 Peter 3:8)
And God can even stop time, rewind it and start it up again-
"Behold, I will bring again the shadow of the degrees, which is gone down in the sun dial of Ahaz, ten degrees backward. So the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it was gone down" (Isaiah 38:8)
"The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day.There has never been a day like it before or since" -Joshua 10:12-14

As for getting to heaven with Jesus, it can be pretty quick, for example when the chap dying on the cross next to Jesus said "Jesus remember me", Jesus replied "Today you'll be with me in Paradise" (Luke 23:41),
heck you can get to Vegas as fast as that..Smile

@Romeo Fabulini,
That's because you're new! It stays on basics, because that's where all the reasonable answers are based, but none are forthcoming.

You,

Even jesus said, "why has thou forsaken me?" He didn't want to die!

Their sin was neither foreknown nor predetermined.

But, if god can create a heaven where sin doesn't exist, why doesn't he close shop that's called earth, and just transfer those good souls to heaven?

I wonder how many will qualify? If my math is anywhere close to being correct, maybe one in one hundred million would qualify for heaven.

Even priests and ministers will qualify for bbq land.

@Romeo Fabulini,
But when he created heaven and earth, he talked about day and night making up one day. You know, the time he created light and darkness. That's metaphor? If that's metaphor, than I don't understand the meaning of metaphor.

Tell us something that hasn't been obvious for years. This is Able 2 Know. What do we want to know things we already know for?

You don't understand the definition of "metaphor" or much else!

I thought the "father's house" was in construction mode. Which is it?

In an earlier post, you posted.
Quote:
"In my fathers house are many mansions, I'm going on ahead to get them ready for you, then i'll come back to take you there with me" (John 14:2-6)

I guess that's another metaphor I don't understand.

I just find it hard to believe that God created in us a sense of fairness He did not himself possess.

@cicerone imposter,
CI, how long is a creative day? Genesis 2:4 lumps the first 6 into one.
And BTW, the seventh day has not yet been recorded as having ended.

Some will go to heaven. Romeo believes his incomplete knowledge qualifies him. Who am I to judge? But most will live on earth.
Your confusion stems from your impatience. God keeps the clock, not us.

Thank you for your observation, Spendius.

Sorry you are not free.

But I am sure you are reasonable...if there are any takers.

It does bother you to accept that (according to the story)...the couple did not know the difference between right and wrong...between good and evil...

...but were punished for doing wrong...for doing evil.

It is a joke, Neo. You honestly would be more free if you come to grips with it.

You'll have to forgive Romeo for failing to understand that the Greek/Aramaic texts had no punctuation. So, Jesus remark should be rendered "I tell you today, you will be with me in paradise" How do we know that? Because Jesus was in the grave for parts of 3 days. Unconscious, asleep.

Sorry you can't see it, Frank. That you could not even accept it as metaphorical tells me you simply don't wish to see it.

Make it "metaphorical", Neo. It still is a sting.

What would be the metaphor?

You do not have knowledge of good or evil...yet if you do evil I will punish you?

C'mon, Neo. Surely you do not think your god would punish you if you expressed a legitimate questioning of this passage...

...do you?

Hey Cicerone, a slimline gospel like this is free from most Christian groups and can be read in just a couple of days, you don't have to study the whole Bible. Remember, Jesus saves, not the Old T..Smile
Paul said - "I'm worried lest you be led astray from the simplicity of Christ" (2 Cor 11:3)
"And the common people heard him gladly" (Mark 12:37)
"When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus" (Acts 4:13)

@Romeo Fabulini,
Hey, I get "that" kind of stuff from my siblings regularly.
There are just too many contradictions, errors, and omissions in the bible for it to be the "word of god." It's not even a whisper. It shouts "thou shalt not kill," then in another verse he instructs "kill your own children."

That's a direct contradiction. Which one do you follow?
