It's rare...

You can only 'learn' from subjective 'perspectives', the only thing you can learn from an individual that you can't learn from other sources is information about that individual, which I personally don't see a lot of objective worth in.

A person may know a wide array of information and hold a different set of perspectives and opinions on all the separate bits of said information, but no one bit of information or reaction to that bit of information is really unique or special. The things that make up what and who we are didn't spawn in a void, they were already there.

I understand your argument I just don't see any value in it.

Well I believe that any person trying to assert the value of another's life, intelligence,etc......is kinda like playing God to satisfy their own ego. No matter who does it....they assume an authority over another that they just don't have.

If people thought better of themselves...they might treat others better as well.

At least from my perspective....what do you think?

Just because someone says they are a Theist, Christian whatever...doesn't mean they are.

Same as an Atheist.

Imagine a microcosm universe containing only 4 people, with very limited interests, for the sake of demonstrating my point.

Bob likes ice cream, hockey, and cherios.
Suzie likes yogart, hockey and count chocula.
Ann likes ice cream, boxing and honey combs.
Joe likes pudding, football and cherios.

Bob dies.
Bob was 'unique' as he was the only one of the three with that specific set of likes.
However, any of the perspectives that made up 'bob' could be learned from the other 3, separately. Nothing has really been lost.

Nothing is new/original under the sun? The universe has always existed you mean?

Why did you choose 4 people? Do you see them as four seperate authorities unto themselves?

I chose 4 for simplicity. For the example we will assume all 4 are authorities on each of the 4 subjects listed for each.
I am unsure if you grasp the point I am trying to illustrate

Let's use bigger examples like Katrina and the tsunami in Asia.

They're all gone, but it doesn't change most of humanity or the future of those that are born after those events.

How they acknowledge their environment and live their lives doesn't matter to the greater population or the rest of the world.

All we know for sure is that if this planet survives another day, the sun will be seen by those that are still alive.

I should have said, "Unique doesn't have any value to the rest of the world unless you are somebody well known." Most individuals have value to their family and friends.

This is true of anyone...but, what defines a friend to you. Can they insist a difference of opinion on a delicate or touchy matter and remain a friend?
