Since so many have posted since my last post and I know you are all looking for answers from Mr. Setanta, you need to go to the Liberal Hypocrisy thread.

Mr. Setanta has agreed to be my (MOAN) Smileys Anonymous Sponosor! He is helping me work the Twelve Steps so that I can overcome my addiction to emoticons. Embarrassed

He has made some marvelous posts. And I really want all of you to see them. He is so full of wisdom! That's why I picked him as my sponsor! Laughing

And if you will read my posts to him you will see how I praise him. Bartikus, you are so right, Mr. Setanta, is indeed, one of a kind.

Please come join us at that thread so you can see for yourselves!http://web4.ehost-services.com/el2ton1/heart.gif

Very little am I certain of but, that which cannot be denied ....I will hold to.

I have yet to find anyone to deny what I said.

To not believe it.....is self delusion on my part.

What I said is as true as the sky is blue....

I am not the author or authority of truth....It has just been revealed to me and I believe in it?

Ah I see Bartikus has arrived in in my absence !

He's after those celestial brownie points ! I note that he's already evoked "the Beast" as his opponent...good move for bonus points !

Meanwhile, the Bombers don't wait for points to get to your mutual never-never-land. They jump the queue in order to grab places for their family and friends. And you lot think that they are "irrational" and nothing to do with you ! Laughing

Any loss of life...is a lost life that can never be replaced. The Bombers lives are no less and no more than the lives of their victims. The whole thing comes from not seeing the value of a human being of any sort. People cast judgement upon one another based on their differences. We all are unique.

The beast is merely a man trying to take a position of God's.Jesus Christ is his opponent. I get and deserve no points, every good thing that comes to me is by God's goodness alone. I cannot earn points anymore than one can earn their....birth or life.

Tell me if you agree or deny this one statement:

No 2 people in the world can agree on all things!

People need to see the worth in themselves and in the worth of those who do not see things as they do, or do things as they do, or believe as they do!

Even those who profess to follow the same ways...do not agree on all points. Hence the schizms...they fought out there differences to the point of bitterness. Why? Because my way, thoughts, rational is best? By whose standard other than my own? Who will agree with me on all things? JUST ME

And this is the authority by which men make their stands in opposition to one another. Whether it be a cruel remark or a bomb. Men gravitate to others of like minds to "bolster" their "authority" feeding into the imagined authority above them which is...just them. Giving them the thought that their judgements are higher than others. This is why my God says to judge not...lest ye be judged and with whatever measure we judge it shall be measured unto us.

I can consider and call a person an idiot for not seeing things as I do or I can realize that what they say(in the spirit of respect) has value whether I see it or not. It is to my folly or wisdom to do so and will reap my reward accordingly.

I have yet to find any person who can agree with me on everything....which is a good thing. It might go to my head. Twisted Evil

There is no one who has come before you in this world.....that is just like you.......and no one will ever be able to take your place.

This is true of us all. Whether one sees it or not. This is the premise I begin with regarding myself and all of mankind.

If I made any personally offensive remarks before I regret that and ask for your forgiveness.

Mr. Setanta!

How wonderful to see you today! How are you doing?

Mr. Setanta, since I know how you really do not like to offend others I thought I might take the liberty to let you know that I think you made a slight boo boo in your typing! Believe me, I know how easy typos are to make! I do it all the time. Anyway, I think you accidentally typed Barfikus instead of Bartikus. I think you accidentally hit the f key instead of the t. I have a real problem transposing the h and e like in the. I usually type it teh and have to fix it! Embarrassed

I was just afraid Bartikus might have taken that as an offensive thing and since I know you (and you ARE my sponsor!) I don't want him or anyone else to think badly of you.

I am still working on the Smileys Anonymous 12 Steps. I am still working on Steps 1 and 2. I haven't been able to find any meetings to go to though. Do you know of any? Question

Well, you have a wonderful day, Mr. Setanta! Thank you so much for the wisdom you have given me and everyone else. It's such a gift when people share their thoughts and feelings!http://web4.ehost-services.com/el2ton1/heart.gif

Mr. Setanta,

I was just trying to point out that we all make mistakes and sometimes we don't even realize it! It's just a human thing.

Well, I sure hope my ass doesn't get bit! He is a cranky old thing. I even call him a donkey sometimes! That's my funny little way of joking with him!

Oh I think anytime anyone points out something in someone else's life that they might disagree with, perhaps they think that person's point is pointless and not their life? I mean, you have heard of don't throw the baby out with the bath water, right? Well, I think everyone has something to offer in this world. So, how can any of us say that anyone's life is pointless?

Mr. Setanta, I have learned so much from your posts. So, if anyone were to tell you that your life is pointless because you are an atheist you just refer them to me and I will tell them of the many wisdoms you have told me and others!

I hope you are having a wonderful day, Mr. Setanta!http://web4.ehost-services.com/el2ton1/heart.gif

P.S. My grandma is the one that told me "You can learn something from anyone; even if it is just how NOT to act." I think my grandma was a very wise woman. What do you think, Mr. Setanta?

You will continue this idiocy, undoubtedly, until everyone is sick of the sight of you. You will then likely assert that you were brought into disrepute by "haters of god" and other evil creatures who lurk about in these fora. Already, other christians are sick of your tripe . . .

I have not the least doubt that this will in no way deter your continued pathetic and puerile attempts at cutting sarcasm. For my part, i neither feel nor fear agitated electrons, which you ought to have come to understand by now.

Here are some potential "points" to atheists lives.

1. To make the most of life's opportunities for activity and exploration - both physical and mental.

2. To support or relieve the suffering of self and others or to promote their liberation from the restraints of conditioning, thereby giving both the recipient and the giver "pleasure".

3. To safeguard these freedoms by taking a vigilant stand against those who would usurp them by word, deed or creed.

Fellow atheists please feel to add to the list.

Fresco,

I think everyone's life has a point! That's the whole point! Idea

Even though we all have differing views, opinions, and beliefs, we can still learn from each other. Just because a person says or does something stupid that doesn't mean they are stupid, does it? It doesn't mean if they make a pointless point that they themselves are pointless, does it? I sure don't think so! Very Happy

Just take all the things I have learned from Mr. Setanta!http://web4.ehost-services.com/el2ton1/heart.gif He has taught me so much about so many things. No one can call anyone's life pointless! I mean, that would be, well, pointless!

MA,

If an atheists life has a point such those above, then athesits are in direct conflict with theists over "exploration", "conditioning" and "creed".
It is a logical fallacy to assume atheism is "another creed" of equal rational footing to theism. The statement "everyones life has a point" is vacuous when stated as support for the fallacy of such equality. However sincerely felt, it is merely a "feelgood" palliative for theists who aspire to such equality when in fact that they cannot cope with the accusations levelled against them of tacit support for extremists.

Fresco,

You think that atheists are in direct conflict with theists over things? Shocked Wow! You know what, I think you are right about that.

But, that just makes us different. Doesn't make any one of us better than the other one. I think the important thing to remember is we are all human and we all make mistakes and we all do things that are right also.

What do you think? Idea

Okay,

You are again seeking again equality of status.

What are you going to do about your belief in an an afterlife and a deity giving tacit support to the actions of extremists ? Will you admit this is mistake as "a responsible member of the human race" ? If you CAN admit that then your claim for equality can be seriously considered.

On my part I will freely admit say that my garbage disposal activities are less than environmentally friendly with respect to the future of the planet.

Of course I see your anti-social activities as the more imminent threat, but I'll do deal with you.
You renounce your faith and I promise to improve my recycling activities!

Well... Question

Fresco,

I thought everyone wanted equality? Hmmm. Boy, sounds like I missed something then?

I thought the whole thing about this thread is someone said atheists' lives are pointless? I don't happen to believe that is true.

It's just as simple as that to me. Don't give up your garbage disposal! Laughing

You tell me....

Setanta stated:

Not necessarily . . .
(In regards to all of man agreeing on one thing to be true)
That would simply be the most gross case of argumentum ad populum . . . it would not be unreasonable to assert that at one time, every human on earth believed that the sun orbits the earth . . .

Anatole France says it best: If fifty million people say a foolish thing, it is still a foolish thing
.

The sky might not be blue.
Water may not be wet.

Man might not be the final authority on.....anything.?
