Are there no absolutes? Should we not worship in truth? (John 4:24)

Sorry if I am derailing the thread. I'm just a neanderthal. What can I say?

@Frank Apisa,
I hafta wonder why any GOD who actually wants humans to know that IT exists...and who wants humans to know what pleases IT and what offends IT...

...cannot do a better job of transmitting that information to everyone, so that we do not have to rely on people like Spade and you to filter the information and pass it on.

The Bible does its own good job for those inclined to learn. You would first have to adopt the premise that, if there were a God who created in us the capacity to love, then he would certainly explain our world situation to us, tell us why we have war and crime and sickness and death, then tell us what he intends to do about it.

Religion has not explained that but the bible does.

The god sure did a shitty job of communications.

Or as Tim Rice put it:

SUPERSTAR by
VOICE OF JUDAS

Every time I look at you I don't understand
Why you let the things you did get so out of hand.
You'd have managed better if you'd had it planned.
Why'd you choose such a backward time in such a strange land?
If you'd come today you could have reached a whole nation.
Israel in 4 BC had no mass communication.
Don't you get me wrong.
I only want to know.

Uh huh. The god of the Bible is a lousy communicator in order that we have free will!

And fish dislike fireplugs for the same reason.

Where did the author(s) of that dictionary "profess'" that he/they are not Christian?

You don't like Tim Rice's lyrics, Izzy?

I love 'em...and in this case, they were right on the mark.

I can understand somebody suffering rejection writing shite like that but sympathising with it is beyond my comprehension. Which I'll allow is no big deal because there's plenty of other things that do also.

What is "in truth" to you?

What you personally believe about God? Or what John believed that you also believe is "truth"? Do you worship John? Or God?

Thanks Frank...no one has to believe it is true...everyone has a choice...not sure if I could answer the second part...I think that everyone, even believers have a long ways to go...I think that people can only see things if they start to let go of every personal desire that they have that we know is not necessary...that is not centered around being free, or happy forever...

Certain people are at different levels of spirituality...

It does not have anything to do with what I can or can not transmit...

It has to do with oneself actually realizing this upon their own, if they freely want to do it...
