@reasoning logic,
Thank you RL.
I do appreciate your efforts at moderating.
I do like Rachel Maddows. She does stand by her convictions.
I do think that she is participating in a form of hyperbolic rhetoric sometimes however in her role on MSNBC. I do think I understand her reasons for this, though it of course does not do much to decrease Republican vs. Democrat tribalism.
I will watch the entirety of her lecture later. Very Happy

I wish it did not even exist...

Finally...I can agree with you here completely and without reservation, Spade. The voting system sucks...and anybody who puts any effort into it should rethink what they are doing.

Nobody should ever bring it up.

The term means you've stopped making sense given the circumstances... you're over reacting... losing your cool... that kind of thing... it doesn't have to be true it could be a misperception on the part of the receiver so to speak. I perceive that to be the case.

You're a good person... stop this nonsense.

@Frank Apisa,
I only bring it up now because it has an impact on new users to the site.
Many pop in to ask what may be considered an embarrassing question.
When evaluating advice on such topics, viewing thumbs will of course play a role.
They are not yet a part of the community and have limited information on which to judge the social signal that the thumbs represent.

I like to record that I've been falsely accused of thumbing down Matt. Others know I'm not into thumbing so I'll leave the final judgement to them.

I've also been falsely accused of unsuitable PM's I may publish the whole lot if asked. I have 'nothing' to hide because the snippets published by Matt are out of context and even then those published are on the face of it harmless.

Matt you are too sensitive - ego wise. To say I should stop following you shows this because why would that help anyone?

You are as I've said a good person... and I'm sure many if not most are not seeing any of the points I'm making as positive. Nonetheless I do not feel I've crossed any line.

@igm,
This whole thumbing bullshit is quite childish, but IGM has no business throwing stones, living in a glass house as he does. He conceived a grudge against me, and decided to follow me around, probably hoping to pick a fight. He may now deny that, but he's not as slick as he thinks. When he went to my profile page and elected to follow me, Able2Know sent me an email which read: "igm is now following you." My experience isthat IGM is as intolerant and rigid as any of the most fanatical religionists, and that he is, at least at present, implacably vindictive. I suspect that if, at any point, he conceives the same kind of grudge against Matt, he'll do the same with him.

If you would like I could save you the trouble and publish them in their entirety.
I have not done so yet due to your request (in a private message) for me not to.
Give the word (retract your request) and I will publish it all.

I just checked my profile to be sure, and IGM is still listed as following me. He'll need to rush over there and remove it before he begins protesting that none of it is true.

@Setanta,
I follow you because you're interesting... I don't have to agree with you.. but you are interesting... and sometimes quite funny... sorry to tell you this but you asked for it.

@reasoning logic,
No sir.
Completely sober.
I am not even angry, I however will not be a party to deception and vindictiveness when it impacts others.
That is one of more beneficial purposes of communities and societies, providing social pressures to promote harmony.

Funny? "Really"? I do not see much humor in what he shares because I think that for the most part he is serious or being narcissistic somewhat. but he does have a reason because he is very well educated in my opinion but it is still seen as a negative by many. Wink

OK I find value in that but I do wonder if there could possibly be a better way of conveying your understandings with igm that would lead to a more in depth thought or consideration by him/her?

@reasoning logic,
It has been tried more subtly.
She or he does not respond well to that either.
She/He has not yet retracted the request for "privacy" of his/her messages.
I won't say more on the subject, prior to that retraction.

So then would you have a rejection of sticking your head in an alligators mouth? Or would you have a belief you should not, that is the determining factor as to why you would not do ?

I would see that the alligator has many teeth and that it is a killer but do you think I need to believe this or could I see by my observations that it is true?

Give me one example of something you think you have an understanding about, or good understanding about...that you do not believe?

I have an understanding about many concepts that man has created and I do not need to believe them but rather be taught them so that I can understand the logical consistencies that they are putting forward.
I think that some of these concepts could be wrong but I do not need to believe it but rather understand it by someone showing me logical inconsistencies about them. Could we all be wrong? sure there may be better working models to come but why should I believe that a working model has no errors?

@reasoning logic,
That's the benefit of following ... In less serious threads posters are often very different from those posts which are more emotionally charged.

Something I noticed just recently and I am ashamed to admit it but I been studying how people lie and I caught myself saying something that was not exactly true but yet I sad it.

This is not exactly related to what I I am referring to above nor as close to what I would like to share but I seen today where a simple math problem was involved but yet my answer to it was way out there and there was no logic to it that I can think of but a number I had in my head earlier may have been the problem because it was that number that made my answer incorrect.
I do not ever recall doing that before but I do know of have had the wrong answer many times in the past because of sloppy mistakes but today was bizarre
