farmerman wrote:Intrepid, I wasmaking an example that it was those of your "ilk" who taunted first. Its not always about you.
I was referring to you however when I said,
"Intrepid, are you shittin me?".....
BTW, Im not an atheist, Im an agnostic, with heavy leanings on the orthodox forensic.
My ilk? Gee, I kinda feel like part of a herd or something. Of course it is not always about me and I would prefer it that way. I obviously did not quite understand what you were saying and I even apologized if I was wrong. The fact that you chose to ignore that part and make the remarks that you did is up to you. BTW...I did not suggest that you were an atheist. it isn't always about you, you know.
I am proudly an atheist, and I don't give a **** about proving the negative. I hold that there is not the slightest reason to conjure a god to worship, or to ascribe some sort of divine guidance to the universe. Revering a Super Parent of a God in particular is to me just laughable. Believing in a disinterested, faceless god is not much different. It is based in the same fear and ignorance, after acknowledging that the Old God-with-a-beard is too embarrassing to consider. One can't blame science for atheism. There would be no gods even if there were no scientists.
Ditto for me, edgar. It seems beards on Santa Clause and god/jesus has the same effect on humans; a mythological character that "loves" all.
For many reasons, I find Santa Clause to be more undangerous to humans.
Is it not possible to be an atheist without showing loathing for those who are not?
We only react to people of religion that seems to act self-righteous based on their religion, and asks stupid questions such as "how much we donate to charity."
I have not shown loathing for all Christians, as my posts all over a2k will attest.
Now you are caught in a lie, CI. You were not asked how much you donate to charity. It was suggested that you look into yourself what you do. Not to tell someone else.
What is your definition of self righteous, BTW?
To you, stupid questions are questions that you are unable to answer. Anyone who judges people by their believes, colour, creed or anything else are to be pitied. If that is what it is like in your world, I thank God that I am in His.
To even suggest that I must look into myself is worse than asking the direct question. It assumes that the writer doesn't have any guilt, but can throw it around like piss to others.
You probably don't understand what I mean, because you're part of that ilk.
I think that it is an utter waste of time and energy to even contemplate your existence. You won't have to worry yourself about getting posts from me in the future.

And I think that the notion of this world being a cosmic mistake is laughable. The notion that every believer is somehow ignorant is even more preposterous.

John Creasy,
Gotta agree with you there. I am just speechless at what edgar wrote. Just speechless.
JC, It's you who said "The notion that every believer is somehouw ignorant is even more preposterious." Nobody even implied such a thing, but if the shoe fits....

And such colourful words to add more punch
C.I.,
Then you obviously are not following this thread very well. John Creasy made a statement. He did not quote anyone else as saying it. It was just a statement. A true statement.

Hell if no one implied it.

Cosmic mistake is your words, Creasy, not mine. Mistake has no meaning in the scheme of things.

I'm an atheist and don't loathe anyone except when I finally catch on to a kind of cynical exorcism of freedom going on. No immediate names of people here come to mind.
