That is not much to show for 76 years in an economic system in which it almost impossible to go wrong. I was not far short of that, by my own efforts, at 16 when I abandoned the formal educational system on the first day I was legally allowed to.

@FBM,
What would you say to the people who follow this?

http://buddhistgods.blogspot.com/

Is it missing the point of Buddha's teachings?

Frank uses such expressions to imply that he is manned up. It's a two-step version of marking his own homework. That gambit was so common on the evolution threads that I gave it a name. The RIC. The reverse invidious comparison.

Saying I am drunk implies the speaker is sober.

Saying I am stupid implies the speaker is intelligent.

Saying I don't know anything about evolution implies the speaker is familiar with evolution.

And so on and so on without any need to demonstrate sobriety, intelligence or any knowledge of evolution. What a deal eh?

It was the result of a vow of poverty, Spendius.

I decided early on not to concern myself with wealth or things...and to concentrate on being happy and content. I am one of the luckiest human beings I know...almost always content and happy.

SpadeMaster was not talking to me with the "I do not need to man up" remark, Spendius.

And I have never called you a drunk...nor have I suggested in any way that you are stupid....nor that you know nothing about evolution. In fact, I got into quite an argument defending you in one of the evolution threads, if you remember.

@XXSpadeMasterXX,
Enough red herrings about Buddhism. This thread isn't about Buddhism. You have nothing to offer in support of your fantasy about a Super-Savior. It's all in your head and you refuse to face reality. Enjoy your fantasy.

Those two remarks are inconsistent i.e. logically incoherent.

The first one demonstrates an acquisitive streak based on luck rather than effort. The second one is merely a quick escape from an impasse.

I know. I didn't say he was talking to you. You have used the expression to me though. More than once.

I was making a general point about the infantile nature of the RIC which applies to many more that you and FBM.

Only in a mind like yours, Spendius. There is nothing inconsistent about the two...nor is there anything logically incoherent.

Quote:

My guess is even you cannot make sense of these two sentences...even though you wrote them.

Sure looked like you were addressing SM's remark...and as though you made a mistake. But we all know you will never acknowledge a mistake...so you are being consistent.

Quote:

Sure you were! Wink

And I notice you never addressed the fact that you made several other accusations that are completely false. But that is a bit more of you being consistent.
