I just had an emergency call. An elderly woman was unable to get up from her chair. Her son was at the door, but he couldn't get in. There are keyless deadbolts on both doors. That is, deadbolts that work only from the inside. I had to break a window to get inside. Just enough to unlock it. I know what I got to do Monday.

reyn, i enjoyed the posting of your street art - great !
i just purchased my first digital camera - a mini sony that should easily into a pocket. it'll take me some time to study the manual - hope i'll master it before we go on a five-week holiday in march (well, i think i'll take my trusty old 35 mm along, just in case - wouldn't want to come back and find out i didn't get any pix). hbg

Wow, tricky work, Edgar! You seem to be indispensable.

You know, the lady's son should suggest to his mother that she get's the type of deadbolt that uses a key from both inside and outside. That way the son doesn't get locked out.

They passed a law in Texas that made us install those type locks about ten years ago. We can't change them. What we do is try to educate the oldsters to use only the keyed deadbolts, a few inches lower.

Hi hamburger! I'm glad you enjoyed the pics. I had lots of fun taking them.

I'm still very much learning myself. This is my first digital camera. Every day, for about a week or so, I studied the manual carefully.

If you just study yours one page at a time, I'm sure you'll do it, too.

I hope you enjoy your holidays and look forward to your photos upon your return. Very Happy

The law says you have to have certain types of locks? Wow, that's pretty strick!

Hope it all works out for the woman.

She is only one in a string of like cases. I have been getting apartments open for these people for a long time. I would like to find some way around the law, but I don't know the wording. Doubt if I could find it anywhere.

EdgarJBlythe: Hi ! Your nearest local library might
help you find a copy of the law.If not,the office of the Tx.state senator or rep from your area might be able to help.
That's terrific of you to care about your folks. I know I'd pitch a royal fit,if my 83 y/o father had to have locks that couldn't be opened from the outside by a manager's key!
If all else fails,Google a search for the wording of that law.
Good luck !

Say, Edgar, can you do a spot of lock picking?

No, I had to break her window to get in. Since that incident, I've been back twice already. Once because an air conditioner was not cooling, twice because a section of fence fell on the neighbor's property (It's a very blustery day here).

Over 80 degrees here today. A cold front will get it to a high in the 70s tomorrow.

Well, I shouldn't complain. I don't like the heat any better than the cold! Laughing

72.3, eh? Hmm, that's 22.3888889 degree Celsius. I could live with that, so long there was a slight breeze with a few clouds....and I wasn't working. Oh yeah, and a cool glass of water under a tree would be nice, too. Laughing

We got our first snow of the season overnight here. It appears to be just an inch or so, but the sight of it depresses the hell out of me! Mad

It's fairly unusual for us here to get it in November. Most times, it doesn't show up until late December or January.

At least it shouldn't last long. The temp is above zero C.
